I sold my 2009 Honda Fit yesterday 😢
I joined FitFreak in 2009 the day after we bought my brand new taffeta white base Fit. I'm not mechanical so never wrote much; but, always found comfort in knowing I could search for anything and get quick good advice. My husband drives a Subaru for our longer day trips and I drove the Fit for short local shopping trips and work. My commute was <10 miles and I retired in 2015. In all that time, I never had a flat tire and never had a mechanical break down. We recently decided that while we love the reliability of having a second car...especially being the Fit...it was time to sell. Her interior was in excellent condition and and exterior was good. Just two small rust spots and the usual small chips here and there. She only had 32,950 miles, gas mileage averaged in the high 30's, and once I got 53 mpg on an hour-long trip down I-295. We weren't interested in selling privately so went on the Carvana, We Buy Any Car, and Carmax websites. Carmax gave us the best online offer of 43% of our original purchase price! We went to Carmax yesterday and after inspecting the car, they didn't knock down the price! We were quietly shocked as we totally thought it was mandatory to knock down the initial offer price. We're satisfied we got a good deal all the way around...from buying it, owning it, to selling it 16.5 years later. Now, I'm just a bit sad to look out my window this morning and not see her there so I thought I'd write this little blurb to share my experience as a way of getting some closure with people who know, understand, and love Fits.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading!
I bought my 09 GE Fit used in 2018 with 130k miles. Now at 202k miles. Originally I got it just to teach my S/O how to drive manual. Yet this 18 year old Honda won my heart and just keeps on going -- I've never had the check engine light turn on and only routine maintenance.
During my Fit ownership, I've cycled though five other cars (ranging from boring SUVs to exotic mid-engined sports cars), and yet the humble Fit still has its place.
I will be sad the day it has to go.
Thanks for sharing yours! Clearly I barely scratched the surface of her mileage capabilities. Nevertheless, the time spent was always a good experience and as before, I'll always smile when I see a fellow Fit on the road! Good luck with yours!
