Cost for another key

Just picked up a 2013 sport.
Of course it came with only one key.
Of course the battery was dead, and the screw holding it together was "screwed" up.
Had to drill it out, but it looks like just the key can be replaced.
But I do want to have a spare made.
Some of these fobs cost an arm and a leg.
What could I expect to pay????

Checking around town and found it's just about an are and a leg.
$175 to $250,
Take about an hour to do it.
Can get blanks on amazon for under $30, so I'm wondering why it cost so much???
I remember having keys cut for less than $10, blank included.

What you are paying for is the cost of running a locksmith business. Don't feel bad, some foreign makes have keys that cost $400+.

I heard that costco has a mobile van, going to different locations, that makes/programs keys.
I might see if I can find it.
Can't be that hard on this island.

The key needs to be milled, which requires a $1k+ locksmithing mill. I've tried on the $200 machines you can get off ebay. It's impossible to make both sides align without a lot of shimming and skill.

Yes, cut and programmed right there...about 10 minutes. I got the BASIC key with no buttons. The Key with Buttons was $149.
