Itr front calipers/mini cooper rotors on 2012 fit sport..
Hey everyone. Just want to share my experience with this swap.
I'm attempting to put the Integra type r calipers, mini cooper cross drilled and slotted brake rotors on the car, and using the lug centric spacers, as well as I drilled and tapped a hole for the factory mini cooper rotor retaining screw so I know it's centers on the hub and won't go anywhere. I mocked them up to see if they fit the fit. 😉😅.
Well, they do..but barely. With the o.e.m. wheels this car came with, the face of the caliper bracket comes withing a cats whisker of clearing the back of the wheel. (16" wheels). If the offset was just 3-4 mm more it would be done by now.
So, I decided to shave down the bracket a little, as the outside edges tend to bulge out before they wrap around the floating caliper. I'm hoping this is enough clearance. I may have to shave a little more but I haven't re-test fit them since I did a light grinding on them last night. I was hoping for the best and already painted the caliper bracket. I wish I had high temp paint in the body color of the car (orange burst metallic I believe it's called), so it would match the car. I orders some things wheel spacers but the thinnest I could find was 3mm. I think by shaving the caliper bracket and maybe finding a 1-1.5mm wheel spacer will give me the clearance and piece of mind of it not contacting the back of the wheel. I also have the stainless steel braided lines to attach to the factory hard line. Looks like the bracket that is supposed to mount to the body is different, so, I'll have to reuse the factory one? I took a quick video of how close it is. And what I did to the brackets. Just wanted to get peoples opinions about this or tips (if any) to make this go smoother.
Drilled and tapped the factory hub for the mini cooper rotor retaining screw. And it's on. Shaving the ears of the caliper for clearance and smoothing out some casting flash as well. Freshly painted caliper brackets.
