2009 MT question....
I have one simple question as an owner of a MT base 2007:
In top gear on the highway, what mph per 1000 rpm?
For example, in the 2007:
60mph = approx 3000 rpm.
I wish to see if the final drive and top gear ratio have improved for crusing speed.
Thanks

2827 RPM for Base with 175-65-15 tires @ 60MPH
2821 RPM for Sport with 185-55-16 tires @ 60MPH
Roughly 21MPH per 1000RPM in 5th gear.
Here are the new Gear Ratios:
1st: 3.308
2nd: 1.870
3rd: 1.303
4th: 0.949
5th: 0.727
Reverse: 3.308
Final Drive: 4.62

Thanks, little to no change I see.
Top gear is fine for Japan where the max highway speed is 100kph/62mph over short distances, but is an economy killer here in the US where 65-80 mph cruising speeds over distances are the norm.
The nice thing about it tho is not a lot of shifting beween 5th and 4th for hills and the like.
