Dealer told me that build date on my sport w/navi was 8/28. He also said that he didnt have a VIN number yet. He said he doesnt get vin number until car is loaded on boat. Is this correct?

If so, how long will it take to get here (MN) from Japan once loaded onto boat?

My current car is FALLING APART, I dont want to put any money into it but will have to if it takes to long to get my car.

 

FWIW, my build date was 8/8 and it arrived at the dealer this evening (can't get it until Thursday due to a prior commitment ). So in my case, including shipping to New Mexico, it took me just about a month from build to dealer. Not sure how quickly a VIN is available, but salesman was unable provide it until last week.

My build date was also 8/8 and I picked it up yesterday in Cleveland, Ohio. Good luck! I was driving a beater before the Fit too so I feel your pain!

Same thing here. The engine light came on this afternoon in my niece's car on the way home. I hope it's nothing expensive. My build date is Oct 10.

The red fit my dealer said had a build date of 8/8 just came in today. Mine has a build date of 8/10, and I just got the VIN, so I guess your dealer was right in saying that the VIN comes about when it gets on the boat. Mine is coming in next week (hopefully) and I'm all the way in Buffalo! I'm sure yours will be quicker than mine!

 

Seems like it could be here sooner then I though based on what others are saying. I was worried that it was sitting on the loading dock in Japan but that may not be the case based on others build dates. Hope to be rolling in my new 09 Fit within 2-3 weeks!!!

 

yea, took 3-4weeks I think for my fit to get into ND a month ago.

 

My Fit was built August 4 and it arrived in Maryland today August 9. It is a SSM Sport Auto with nav/vsa. I take delivery 1:00 pm tommorrow.

I'm kind of in a different situation. I SOLD my car yesterday and my car will not come in until around the 21st or so and i had a build date of august 24. My dealer has told me that it is on the boat and the boat is on its way to LA.

 

When I went to reserve my Fit, I was happy with the dealer and went ahead and signed a purchase order. The production date was supposed to be 08/31 and he already had a VIN, but could not tell me exactly when it is going to arrive. He implied that because they had a VIN, it meant sooner than later.

Sounds like it could be more dealer garbage to me, has anyone else had a similar experience?

 

I got a similar story ... "a VIN means we can sell that specific vehicle, and once it has a VIN it is usually about 2 weeks until delivery. Once the vehicle is marked as sold, that usually hustles things along" (probably a line). My build date was 8/28, so I'm at the 2 week mark now and anxiously awaiting a call ... oh $#*&!, there's my phone (I wish!)

 

My build date (for Orange Sport 5AT) was 8/27 and the dealer called me 9/9 and said it was on the boat. He said they get notified the day after the boat sets sail. Then, it's roughly 3 weeks until it will arrive here in Louisiana. So - I'll get my fit hopefully on/near my b-day at the end of the month. Then - I have knee surgery pretty much the day after. Great timing, eh?
