Paint and Fabric
I was wondering what others thought about the Paint and Fabric Protection "package" the dealers are trying to sell us (or saying it's mandatory). What is it? I heard the fabric protection is "Scotch Guard". Here is what he said about the paint:
"The paint sealant i recommend if you plan on keeping the
car a while it buts a shield between the sun and your car and helps prevent
oxidation or paint fade".
I had it on my 2007 Milano Red and I did not see any advantage. Someone also spilled something in the back seat (soda or coffee I don't know) and I never could get it all out. My dealer wants $195 for it. Is anyone else getting it?

It's a waste of money. You can go by fabric protectant at Autozone or O'Reilly's or someplace like that.
As far as the sealant goes, you could just wax regularly and perhaps apply a sealant yourself.
They're probably just trying to rip you off. Example: The Honda dealer here charges $129 for wheel locks. I can order them online for $35 +s/h.

Many people get fooled by words like, "sealant". Sounds like protection right?
It's WAX, nothing more.
I wouldn't even get gap protection. Do you guys know the resale of these Fits? Something like 3% in 2 years. An 07 Sport AT with 15,000 miles is still worth $16,180 today.

Anything they push as mandatory (like wheel locks or this protection plan)... either tell them to toss it in free or walk away from the deal.
They can't make you add on anything that isn't already on the car or removable. I had to get the VIN Etch on mine... it was already applied.

I seriously doubt there is any actual treatment involved at all. I know the dealership will wash (and maybe wax) the car when it comes off the truck, but as far as any treatment beyond that, it's most likely a scam. Definitely nothing worth the hundreds of dollars they claim. I would ask the dealer to show you exactly how they apply said treatment, and watch them squirm when they try to avoid admitting it's a bunch of bull.
On a similar topic, yesterday, a Nissan salesman told me he hit 137mph in his CVT-equipped Versa. Yeah, gotta love salesmen.

Don't waste your money on that protection crap. If your dealer won't drop it go to another dealer.
GAP insurance is a good idea, especially if you buy with $0 down. GAP insurance prices are typically set by the finance company more so than the dealer. You have pre-approved financing right? Current Fit resale values may not keep pace because of the flood of economy coming out in the next couple years, even from Honda with the Insight and CR-Z. Current Fits hold their values better than average Hondas right now due to high demand. That won't last forever.

So it sounds like nobody here would get the extras as an option. It was already on my 07 but they did not charge me for it back then. I just got a call from another dealer that requires the Paint and interior protection and I told him that I could get it at another dealer without any of that. He is now trying to work a deal where I get tint and clear bra at a reduced price.
I think I will play these two against each other and see where it goes
