Hi folks, I have ordered the blue LED floor lighting accessory, the install looks a tad complicated but not too bad. The kicker though is that it calls for a 20mm hole saw, and a 3.5mm drill bit. I thought I'd just saunter on down to the Depot and pick those up...

Well, they've never heard of the metric system at Home Depot, and none of the other hardware stores I queried here in Phx had either (j/k). So, I hadda order those online through a specialty house.

Because of the nature of the cuts needed to be made, I figgered I better not fudge the sizes. I had to buy 12 (!) drill bits at .45 ea. Total order cost was about $30 incl shipping.

When they come in, I'm going to do the install.

The reason I bring this up is, after I'm done with the tools (hole saw, arbor, drill bit), I'm willing to sell them at my cost (probably $12 plus shipping) to any freakers wanting to do this mod.

Just sayin.

 

You do the mod on the 08 or 09. I ordered a stock illum kit and it should get here next week. I am not too concerned about tools since i have a dremel.

 

Well,it looks to me like if you don't get the hole cut out Just Perfectly for the grommet and shim, the thing might not snap together correctly, and fall out. Read the install instructions and looks at the parts when they come in (I have mine, and I've looked.)

You only get one chance.

Not yet - once the hoel saw etc comes, it's a done deed. Will post pics afterwards.

I'm just tryin to help any modders who will encounter this problem. I was surprised to find the metric stuff wasn't easily obtainable. I wonder if our Canadian friends have the same sitch...
