manual problems?

When i back out of my driveway not in gear, it is able to roll back from the angle of my driveway. then sometimes when i put the car into reverse i hear a grind.

go to 1 then back into R with no probs...

the clutch is depressed all the way when i heard the grind...

anyone else get this prob before? (any car)

You're not supposed to put in reverse until you are dead stopped. This is true for all manuals. Otherwise you'll hear that grind every time.

The reverse gear does not have a syncro so you'll need to wait till the engine wind down before shifting in to reverse.

If the clutch is fully depressed then it's not the tranny.
Early on when you start the fit up and drive it away the ABS brakes go some "procedures" that I'm guessing you're misinterpreting as your transmission grinding. If your clutch is FULLY suppressed then the transmission should not be grinding, period!

haha no syncro on the reverse gear.. i noticed this too where you can't be rolling back while trying to put it in gear. i could do it with my truck without it grinding. oh well, its just one of those annoying little things

ic... just doesn't seem right if im rolling back (stick in neutral) down a hill and decide to go into reverse (clutch in full depression) i grind or if it's not grinding something is sure making noise inside ...

oh well.

lol yeah its grinding. basically, don't do it. lol... but yeah its normal..

some cars can roll back and be shifted into reverse but without a syncro the gears aren't going to line up. no big deal.

i can't even imagine like back in the day,way way back, when all of those old cars didn't have any syncros and you had to double clutch for all of the gears, it must have been such a pain
