Just rear ended!!

Oh well so much for having a new car.

I have a 1000 miles and just made my first car note payment
I'm sitting in traffic, look up in my rearview just in time to see a guy talking to his buddy not paying attention and BAM!!
So I get out and this is what I see

AWESOME !!!!
I love license plate bolt holes in my bumper

The guy's driving some company truck can't find the insurance and doesn't even know the phone number to the company which was ON THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK!!!
So had to call the cops
He let me copy his WHOLE drivers license and the registration card
but oh well the damage isn't that bad

The one cop that showed up new that it was an 09 Fit (I was very surprised) and started talking to me about honda's.
Ends up he's a honda guy and just bought an 08 s2000

At least he didn't break my JDM tails
Anyways sorry had to vent.

That is frustratingly sad! Brand new and already some idiot not paying attention ruins it for you.

Did he have insurance after all? What did the cop end up doing?

Oh, man what a bummer! Make sure you get your car checked very thoroughly, sometimes damage is very subtle. So I have to ask, did your headrest do its job?

I swear, new cars are magnets for road retards -- in my new Fit I've had a few near-hits from people being stupid, much more so than when I drive my Civic. They're like torpedos aimed at us!

Seriously, I feel sorry for you and your brand new Fit. Another reason why I opted for a bright color, so ppl have to pay attention and not rear ending my car.

Oh yes. This again related to my vent on another post about how people judge by looks. People see my Fit and think they can brake late, tailgate and cut me off. Stupid logic, or lack of logic.

The cops just helped us exchange info.
and they ran his license and said it was current

My insurance company said that they would start an investigation on the guy and the company.

I had the guy's information and the company's off of the vehicles registration and the cop said if I ended up having any problems just to contact him

And I will be checking my car tomorrow real well, I worked for a body shop so I'll check it and if I see anything else even looks close to being damaged and if so I'll get right back on the phone with my insurance company and then straight to the body shop.

Yeah,

and to answer I guess the headrests did there job, my girl said her head bounced off of the headrest, I saw it in the rearview so I didn't hit my headrest

But I guess they helped

One of these days, there will be a report of someone rear ending someone else while checking out a Fit. I can just picture it... car approaches in the lane beside, sees the Fit... what's that, cool... *drool*... *neck turns towards the side as they go past*... *bang*... they go into some poor stopped car.

Sorry to hear that.
This happened to my other war a few years back.
Painful..The body shop that I took it to replaced the whole bumper (instead of bondo and re-paint).
Kinda glad that they did it that way now after seeing what happened to a bondo and repaint repair on my buddy's 3-series bumper.
The paint peeled off after awhile and the BMW dealership have to do it again.

Are you going to ask their insurance to replace the whole bumper or?

Hey, believe me... that's very minor and easily repairable.

My EM2 Civic was just written off a few days ago, because a car slammed into me going 80+km/h, while I was dead stopped! (my version of the story is... I got gang-banged HARRRDDD by two chicks on the highway! just a little humour, to my unfortunate accident!)

I'm in physiotherapy now, but still lucky to be alive to tell the story... and get a new car! hahaha!

Be careful out there everyone!

I think he was trying to fit his truck in the Fit to see how it fit. I guess it didn't work.

My mother in law was hit from a company truck too. The driver was playing with his phone! Glad to hear you're okay and the car is fixable. Her trunk & bumper got tow up.

I'll fix the bumper for sure, I looked under the car today and I couldn't find any secondary damage

But if the insurance company cuts me a big enough check I might just go with a JDM rear bumper
I really like the Ings rear

Will see what happens with the insurance company, but yes at the very least I'll fix the stock bumper. Its still to new not to

Thanks
