CA License Plates.....

I received my plates today....don't like em.

Does anyone know what's the annual rate for vanity plates in Cali??

Also, someone told me that I should keep the plates for about a month, then report that one of them was stolen and DMV would send me a new pair with a new number. Is this true and is there a cost? If that's the case, that would be like playing roulette with what the number will be.....

In terms of the vanity plate, I was thinking along the lines of the color and my avatar...."STCHFTS" or "FITSTCH."

it's 65 bucks the first time, when you order it, then an additional 25 bucks a year on top of your registration.

I think you can just request new random plates, I don't see why you should have to lie about it. But if you're going throw the trouble you might as well get a personalized plate.

but the money go toward special fund....like the Environmental one percent of the money go toward California renewable energy funds.

First five hand go the California first five year program for kids

Whale tail one go protecting California Coast

Yosemite go the National Parks in California

For me I have the environmental one and just kept with the standard issue numbers and letters...

I think I just might go and request some plain personalize plates. I'd do the Arts one, but that's waaaaaaay too much.

I wonder if I can get away with no plates and no registration paperwork on the windshield for up to 3 months, like i have been for the past month or just put up with the ones dmv sent me until i get them....we'll see

There's an Audi in my apartment complex that has had RUSNAK dealership plates on the back and no plate on the front since I moved in...over a year ago.

I went 7 months before I put my plates on. over a year is crazy.

Rtype9 I wouldn't go around without any kind of paperwork/plates, just tape your reg info back up.

I knew a person that went around on paper plates for a good year, you can have it on for a long time, it just all depends on if you drive around like a retard and get pulled over. Then you are f*cked.

instead of reporting one stolen, you can just mess one (or both) up and bring it to the dmv saying it's damaged and you need new ones. don't just fold it either haha, make it really damaged. of course, you can't choose what your next one will be, but it'll be around the same pattern as the new plates new cars are getting (as far as the first number and the following 3 letters). don't go while it's in the letters near some abbreviations you don't want on your car either. and ppl above are right, it's like $25 or something and you surrender them your plates.

i know this because i've done it myself 2 times. don't bother asking why.

when I had my prelude a couple years ago, I got new random plates in NY and it started with AMY and four numbers. I hated that crap. A grown man driving around with AMY on his plates.
