Snow tires for 2009 Base/LX
Snow tires for 2009 Base/LX
Has anybody had any luck finding snow tires for the 2009 Base (I have an LX, but they aren't available in the states).
The tire size is 175 / 65 R15 84S
Thanks in advance.

I have a sport but downsized for my winter set. Started thread here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...t-sport-2.html
In the end, I got: 185/60R15 88R XL Nokian Hakkalepiitta (sp???) R winter tires on Civic 15x6 4on100 steel rims. I had them try the wheels on my car first, before mounting the tires, and it's perfect....

Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 are supposed to be released very soon in the 175/65R15 size.
I'm waiting on some.
The stock rim size of 15x5½ - 4x100 bolt center are also available.

Actually I have the General Altimax from Canadian Tire 195/60 R15... very wide (on the Fit LX) and cool looking although still a 15" wheel. These are made in Germany, by Continental I believe. Contrary to conventional wisdom, I pick a wider snow to span potholes and rough pavement, as well as to take on hidden objects on our snowcovered roads. Come over the boarder and get a set!

Illegal tender. Yes, apparently still exists but only if you pay with cash. I use my Royal Bank Avion card for purchase insurance and airmiles which lets me go to Whitefish Montana snowboarding - and my 170cm Burton travel bag just fit jn the back of the car with the seats down, diagonally, but it fit. We had to leave the Camry at home due to a recent experience with sudden acceleration (yes it is true).
I went with 185-60-15. They are a little smaller in diameter (-.2% and slightly wider) or so but seem to work well.
I put on the Generals, which I guess are really Gislav Nordic 3's, what ever they are, they are great. Better then the Blizzacks my wife has on her car. Best tire Canadian Tire has ever sold.

I got a set of 175/65/15 ContiWinterContact TS810S. They are fairly good in the snow, but they aren't great on the ice. They run wonderfully (i.e. smooth and quiet) on dry roads through! Good for light duty winter work, but I'll definitely be going with a more aggressive tire next time around.

Nothing is great on ice. There's just gradations of bad. Streets were utter crap here today and I was sliding around with Nokian Hakkepeliborkborkbork R's (185/60/15 on steelies) in spite of them generally kicking butt.
Went -2 on my Fit Sport - 14x5.5" ET45 Honda Del Sol OEM alloys with 185/70R14 Yokohama Ice Guard IG20's. The overall diameter is basically spot-on when compared to the factory 185/55R16, and the wheels (used on Craigslist - $100) and tires (new from Discount Tire - $182 shipped after $50 instant rebate and $40 mail-in rebate) set me back less than $315 mounted and balanced.
You know the OEM tires (I got stuck with the Bridgestone EL470's) suck horribly when you put on a -2 snow tire and realize how much more fun to drive the car is with them in ALL conditions.
14" wheels:

^^^^^^ nice Craigslist find regarding those $100 alloys....
BTW - I too am running the Yoko iG20 185.70.14 and have zero regrets.... completely transforms the Fit in the winter slop (learned the hard way last Feb when I stuffed my minty new Fit Sport MT into a curb... $1200 damage)
I'm running the iceGuards on '07 14" steelies from Craigslist $120

General Altimax 195/60/15 pizzapan rims - love these snows!
Just back from a little trip with the '09 Fit LX with new General Altimax snow tires, the 195/60R15 size - low road noise, the squiggles disappeared after a hundred miles or so... miss the better milage on the OEM dunlops but very very, very nice, solid ride. And I am trying to behave in the corners but this thing is on rails!
