K20z3 vs L15a7.......when do we get a K20 swap?

Ok Fitfreaks, How many are contimplating just stickin with the L15a7 and giving it a little build, I just seen a L15a fit laying the pipe to a overpowerd NSX through some turns on a video. and there really isn't any "Tracks" arround here besides the "Dragon" aka Deals Gap. but i am thinking you could probly go balls to the walls w/ a L15a7 w/ I/H/E and lsd and be pretty peppy and responsive. BUT... we all know how bad we will get raped on a interstate race vs. almost anything. I went head to head w/ a Nissan Stanza the other day lol and it was dead even. Something has got to be done.

So who thinks it would be a waste to build a L15a7? vs wainting on a k20 swap

we can't do any exhaust manifold upgrade since it's integrated.

even with those mods you arent looking to get really high gains. swap would be best if you can afford it but FI is the best way for the L series

I'm not really looking at how much hp i would gain, I am looking at response and the ablility to hall Balls through touge's and autocross tracks. but I also wander the capablility of L15a7, low displacment means safer HIGH RPM ranges. so a high compression, nicley tunned, short geared, L15 sounds pretty fun!

Considering the stroke of the L15, it's not gonna rev up anything like a B16/K20A, etc. It'll probably be more economical supercharging the L15 to get some decent gains while retaining a relatively good portion of the NA like response.

FI+Blitz throttle controller for the win! but if you wana drag it at the track than go K20. I always thought that a K20 for a fit is a little overkill. You'd have to spend serious cash not only for the swap, but swap out other components to accomodate for the swap, ie axle suspension and what not.

Why do you feel like it's overkill? EF, EG, and EK Civic owners are going K-Series. What's the difference?

well, i mean in terms of cost effectiveness. it'd be overkill for me. being a DD and all. LOL. i guess everyone has there opinions based on their intentions of what they use the car for.

well more hp would mean better gains for your little car.

the best bolt on is FI on the L15

True... But having more power doesn't always lead to suffering MPG. I know this guy who has a boosted AP2. He gets 40MPG on the highway. It's all in the tune and how you drive.

yeah thats true. ive read the k20 Fits get just as good MPG as L15 fits, im sure the K20 is used to powering heavier cars than the Fit. But i mean if you have purpose or just the money to swap a K20 in there, go for it. But it would be a little overboard for my DD. The most I'd do is turbo. But still, nothing beats running 87 octane. LOL

Yup. Too bad we don't get 93 here in SoCal. That would be sweet.

No, you're right. There is octane booster, but I'm a little iffy about using additives. Some stations do sell race gas (100 octane). But it would be useless unless your fuel system is tuned to run it.

Go to Google and type in "Fit engine swaps". Some pretty interesting articles on swapping K20 and what have you into the Fit. Evidently you can't use an A/C with this swap, and it was a M/T, not an auto trans, cuz of space. The K20 is physically larger than current Fit engine, so that does pose some problems. But, mileage was just as good or better. Got some extra $$ that you wanna burn?
