But honda and Toyota lived his TQM system. ("soo solly, Mr Engineer, you had 4 defective parts in 22 million and we expect max of 2. And delivered to door no. - within 3 minutes of schedule.
what does "soo solly" mean?

for people who make such damn nice cars and who are very cordial to others, it's strange how other races make fun of them. kind of hypocritical in a way .

I did not mean to disrespect anyone, for one I (and many others who work @ Honda's North American operations) take it personally when our plants are put down when we know for a fact that our product have been scoring favourably in relation to Honda products worldwide for at least a decade... and 2, I wanted to correct some misinformation on where some of our parts (such as Si transmissions) were coming from since they do in fact come from Japan.

You'll see that my post was in no way attacking and I only posted my retort after being asked about my "game". I enjoy FitFreak very much and believe I have much to learn from (and to add to) this site...

See this is what I mean. Putting down Honda's manufacturing facilities because they are in America--which happens to be where GM resides--makes no sense. You are hearing it from a worker at the factory that they have outperformed Japanese factories. Where was this breed of self-hating American born?

Sid, for some reason I am scared of your posts. It could be because the joker is everywhere or it could be because of the red type in your name. Do not take offense, it is just an observation; I thank you for not closing this thread as it is 1 in 100 that contains intelligible conversation.

It is a 'direct quote' from a Japanese Quality Manager well trained in SQC. It became a often used phrase in our company when our quality inspections were below expectations; it had no intent to make fun of the customer or his company, just clearly indicate we had not done well enough.
A direct translation would be 'so sorry'.
It was a line that certainly caused us to improve our processes and assembly so to not hear hear those dreaded words.
More than once they got back at us with Japanese renditions of southern dialects such as "you wanna up what" when someone meant raising a window. If memory serves, 'ofva yonda' became a Japanese phrase to mean anywhere but where we were. Maybe you needed to live in SC or GA. And 'tar' was another. Its tire, not 'tar'. When you lose the ability to tell the difference between mean and ribbing you have lost the chance to succeed.
It was a good mix of customers and suppliers. We experienced that knowledge.\

It wasn't an attempt. It was.
And if you are disturbed by that I'll see if I can remember some of their 'attempts' to copy our southern expressions. We all got a good laugh. The japanese still think our obedience to PC, or political corectness, is sad.
They understand the difference between comradeship and diversity. And if you think the Japanese are very 'polite and respectful' you need to get to know them better; they can imitate others foibles as well as we can. Sometimes with biting accuracy.
Americans haven't learned that.

Awww, puddin', don't be skured. I'm really a nice guy. It may be that most of the time that you see me, I'm having to wade through a bunch of sycophantic e-thugs in a wee-wee sizing contest starting drama for drama's sake, and I'm swingin' away with the ole ban stick.

But, take a few minutes to read some of the threads in my sig and other threads I've made for the last two years and you'll see, I'm just a great guy!

We're really happy with our '09 Fit Sport Auto, made in Japan.
We're also really happy with our '02 Civic EX, made in the US of A.

I am an American. I like to support American products when it's realistic. Unfortunately, there's nothing really comparable to the '09 Fit on the market, in terms of styling, functionality, and quality. And any compromise which means I spend more time and money in the shop (as I've had to do when I've owned cars from the Big 3) is not acceptable to me.

I am pleased to hear that Honda may build future Fits in the US, and believe that Honda has the system in place in their US factories which will maintain the standards that we've experienced with our Civic.
