Jazz '09 over in Europe

Over here in Norway the 2009 Jazz is to be released 3.January 2009.

The website is already updated and I can see a lot of new colors there:
  • Cool Rose Metallic
  • Cerulean Blue Metallic
  • Sherbet Blue Metallic
  • Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl
  • Premium Deep Violet Pearl
  • Crystal Black Pearl
And also the old colors that also was avaiable in the GD1 over here:
  • Taffeta White
  • Alabaster Silver Metallic
  • Storm Silver Metallic
  • Helios Yellow Pearl
  • Milano Red

The car seems to come in more variations than before (the GD1 was only MT or CVT).
Now you can select between three diffrent models: "Trend", "Comfort" and "Exclusive".
There are also two other models that I'm not sure what contains: "Sport" and "Elegance"

Trend has a 1.2L i-VTEC (4syl, 16vent, SOHC) engine with 90 hk @6000rpm
Comfort and Exlusive has a 1.4L i-VTEC (4syl, 16vent, DOHC) engine with 100hk @ 6000rpm.

As far I can see of the brochure the "trend" and "comfort" is like the US base model on the outside.

"Trend" model has standard:
  • 5 x three-point seatbelts
  • ABS brakes
  • ACE-body (Advanced Compatibility
  • Engineering)
  • Active neckprotection (front)
  • ALR (automatic belt tensioner)
  • Seatbelt tensioner in front with loads restrictions (have no clue what that is...)
  • Hightadjustable seatsbelts in front.
  • Seatsbelt reminder on all seats. (I wonder how that works?)
  • Airbags on drivers and passengerside.
  • Side airbags on front seats.
  • Curtain airbags.
  • Sidecrash protections in doors.
  • Passenger side can be switched off.
  • EBD (Electronic Brake Dristributions)
  • Foglights rear
  • Frontlights with electrical leveladjustments.
  • Frontlight washers.
  • Immobiliser
  • ISO FIX childrenseat fixpoints.
  • LED-light combinations in rear
Comfort systems:
  • Clima system with filter
  • Outlet for auxilaries instrument-panel (
  • Sound system with speedadjustable volum
  • AUX-input
  • Cargoroom lightning.
  • Central locking system with remote.
  • Hightadjustabke driver seat.
  • Electric heated front seats.
  • Footrest.
  • Rear headrest can be folded down.
  • Maplight
  • Multiinformationsystem (have no idea what that is, but probably car computer for fuel consumptions and distance).
  • One-push direction light handlebar.
  • Electrical windows with automatic up/down function on driver side
  • Rear window wiper with interval.
  • Pocket front right seat.
  • Gear indication lamp (only MT)
  • Mirrors electrical adjustable and heated.
  • Speakers front (2)
  • Steeringwheel with tilt AND telescope.
  • Cargobay cover.
  • Vanity mirror
"Comfort" model has in addition to the "trend":
  • Remote control of soundsystem on steering wheel.
  • Automatic AC (electronic controlled)
  • Devided luggageroom (not sure what they mean about that)
  • Front visor with adjustable interval
  • Pockets on front seats.
  • Foldable (motors?) mirrors with direction lights.
  • Speakers in the rear.
"Exlusive" model has (in addition to the Comfort model):
  • Armrest front and rear.
  • Cruise control on the steering wheel.
  • Foglight front.
  • Coolingbox in the glovecompartment.
  • Gearknob and steeringwheel with leather.
  • Panoramic roof.
  • Rain sensor.
  • Electrical windows in the rear.
  • Discant speakers.
  • USB audio input.
  • 16" alu wheels.
Comfort and Exlusive has also a option for 6 step i-SHIFT with gear padles on the steeringwheel.

I will offcourse be there when the new car arrives at my local dealer and want to try the "Exclusive" model
I don't like the look of the car but all other items makes up for that.

Wow! It seems your Jazz will have ALL the cool options we don't get right out of the box - LED turn signals, panoramic sky roof, digital climate control, rear discs, CVT, etc. C'mon Honda of NA!!!

Yeah I want that too... but if I'm going to get the front right side seat back, I think the rear seat I can pass on.

Other than that I wouldn't mind these options:
Frontlights with electrical leveladjustments.
Frontlight washers.
Height adjustable driver seat.
Electric heated front seats.
Gear indication lamp (only MT)
Mirrors electrical adjustable and heated.
Automatic AC (electronic controlled)
Foldable (motors?) mirrors with direction lights.
Gear indication lamp (only MT)
Coolingbox in the glovecompartment.
Rain sensor.

Eh, atleast some of them can be done with mods.

Cargo cover included in the "Comfort" model....

My GD1, a 2007 model CVT with sport styling and foglights, cost about 230.000NOK (about 33.200 US$ including all taxes and without the ...)
A base GD1 with CVT without all the extra I have put in cost about 200.000NOK (about 28.869 US$)....

But it is probably not as expensive if you compare our average salary in Norway with the salary in US. I have to work half a year to pay for the base model with CVT...

Even with inflation and varying salaries, thats still a ridiculous amount to pay for a Fit.

No, since most of the price is tax'es to the state...
Those tax'es I have to pay even if I import the car myself.
You could only get a cheaper car if you import a used car that has been registred abroad for at least 5 years, and transport it home yourself. But all the paperwork makes it very difficult and most people does not import their own cars. And the diffrence is not much anyway...

Arrival of the first GE 08

The first 2009 model Honda Jazz in my area has arrived at my local dealer.
The car arrived yesterday, but I did not had the time to go to the store and have a look at it. I will testdrive it on monday afternoon. I am the second on the list to testdrive it. The first is a newspaper journalist.

I will put up detail images as soon as the testdrive is over and I have got some pictures fromt it. Is there something special you people want to see?

As from the list I had put up earlier it seems there is much diffrences between the new USDM Fit and the new EUDM Jazz.

The car I will testdrive is a Honda Jazz 1.4 Comfort.
Not sure of the excact color yet, its said its blue, but there is three kinds of blue: Cerulean Blue Metallic, Sherbet Blue Metallic or Deep Shapphire Blue Pearl.

Ah, there's that Sherbet Blue again! I think I read that over here it's the same as Tidewater Blue.

Treat revival! Mine is a Sherbet blue but exactly same thing as Tidewater blue. I bought a Visual Garage shark fin antenna in Tidewater blue and noticed no difference at all!

It's weird to me that top of the line Jazz in europe and canada has US's base front bumpers, no side skirts, and no rear roof spoiler. They look like base models there in europe.
