Possible Trouble?

I have had my Fit since the beginning of November and I haven't had a problem--and this winter has been brutal. Yesterday when I was washing my car I noticed very small rust spots--not genuine rust in the normal sense of the word, but very small points of oxidation--near the wheel wells.

The first picture is of the rear left wheel well. There is a screw that is holding the bumper on and it has some light orange coloring near it.

The second picture is of the front right fender. There were a few of these little specs.

At first I freaked out and I quick grabbed my clay kit and removed them. Are the spots due to the chemicals they use on the snow? I know the spots are quite small and as soon as I get a hold of a heated garage I will clay the car fully and wax it.

Any suggestions as to what these are/how dangerous they are? Does anyone have a heated garage I can use?

I think you'll be fine, the area around the screw could just be coming from the salt effecting the screw itself, and the other spots should come out with a clay bar. I don't think you would see surface rust like that any time soon.

Thanks for the quick responses. I will hope for a warm day to clay my car.

use some alcohol to clean it, then touch up the chips and the rust spots.

that's typical of most dd's especially in the snow belt states. i even found a
nice surprise where rust grew UNDER the chip on my passenger side rear door.
i scraped off the paint with a toothpick and touched it up. going to touch it
up some more come Spring, wetsand, and finish it off.
