Xm radio issue

I bought an XM Radio, and everytime I turn on the heater fan the reception go's to crap. I get static that drives me nut's. I'm using the XM's FM Modulator because I dont have a direct line input on the radio.

Anyone have any suggestions besides not using my heat when it's 15 degrees out.

What would that cost me to have that done ? My understanding is that things have to come apart to get to the back of the radio right?

Don't you have an aux input on the front of your radio?

No,...it's a base model 2008. I have an AUX button, but I believe I would have to have stuff added to the radio.

This section of the forum is for 2nd gen Fit. You would get a better response in the appropriate forum.

Is that aux button just a button or can it be lifted to expose an input jack like on the 09 GE Fit?

I use XM all of the time with the FM modulator and have not experienced your problem.

Whenever my FM receiver is putting out a lot of static, I change the frequency until it goes away. That might be a solution. I assume you've tried moving the satellite antenna around a little bit to see if that helps.

Otherwise, see if the static is getting into your radio when you listen to regular broadcast stations. Tune the radio to frequencies that don't have a broadcast signal and see whether you get static without XM when you run your fan. If so, your fan motor might be at fault and might need replacement.

I like XM and take it with me in our cars or in rentals when we travel. Never have had this problem. I can always find a spot on the dial where I can get clear sound.

Cheers.

Radio's fine,........tried every empty channel, and it go's to hell when I turn the fan on. It's causing a weird interference.

there's a diy for adding an aux jack to your fit->

also, if you could take a picture of your center console near the cigarette lighter socket, you may be able to just buy the auxiliary input jack from Honda and snap it to the console and run some wires to it.

ahh.. no wonder
i would have sworn all GE's had the AUX port
I remember test driving the base and it also had the AUX port up front, just didn't have the USB.

didn't you say you had a 2008 base... they didn't make GE's in that year, only GDs
