Radiator cooling fan running a lot

I have noticed that the cooling fan for the radiator has been running a lot. This morning when I started the car, after sitting all night, the fan kicked on right away even though the light for the coolant was still on saying it was cold. Anyone else have this problem? It is 65 degrees out and the car has 475 miles on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your A/C on or are you in defrost mode? That's probably it.

Exactly. Many people don't know that the AC is automatically on when the air selector is on heat/defrost or defrost. There's no indicator light, just the fan noise tells you.

Also, when running defrost, the air vent should be set on FRESH air, not recirculated!!! ALWAYS.

+1. It turned on when it was negative 25 earlier this year. The FitFreak community has figured out a way to disable it--IIRC, I can't remember the thread title though.

Thanks everyone for the information and links. Now that I think about it the selector was set to non recirculating defrost so it must have been a fan for the AC and not for the temperature of radiator coolant.
