How do u remove map lights?

Just when I had my last annoying rattle fixed (glove box), another one made its debut.

On the choppy freeway, only if the sun is out (my car has been silent the past 2 rainy days) I think I hear some crackling sound from the map light assembly. If I push upwards around the lights I'll hear a few different crackly noises. I can slip the edges of my fingers under the map light plastic frame, but I don't want to pull and break anything.

I'd like to remove the maplights to have access to the noises. Anyone know how to do this correctly?

Thanks.

I replaced all my interior bulbs to led's recently. Use a small screwdriver and carefully pry off each map light from the inside section. They are attached by "hinges" that if removed very carefully, will not break off for good. Once you see how the inside section works, it will be easy to remove the entire light cover. Repeat for the other side.

I'd recommend doing this in daylight or simply turn on the map light itself. Again, have patience with this econocar and it's "cheap" parts...

Just dismantled the map lights and applied felt to contact areas. It was easy. Thanks for the tip and photo again. I didn't take a ride yet, but when I pressed upwards in that area it was silent, so here's hopin' that did the trick.
