replacing map light and dome light

I replaced the cargo incandescent bulb with a brighter LED equivalent. Getting the cargo lens cover off was easy to figure out.

Gaining access to the bulbs in the map and dome light fixtures is not so easy to figure out. It is not covered in the Fit Owner's Manual. I don't want to break anything. Any hints?

I used a small flat bladed screwdriver covered with a cloth or a layer of plastic tape (or a small plastic pick tool). For the dome light, pry in the center of the lens on the rear side (opposite the switch). For the map lights, pry near the hinges on the inside edge, near the corners, and the lens will pop out.

Glad I could help. The LED lamps enhance the "high tech" look of the interior.

Press Fit, what specific LED bulb did you use for the cargo light? I really need to do that mod, the stock light is absurdly dim.

I used these for the cargo, dome and map lights.

I believe these are the tail lights. I have not used them yet.

I learned about them from another FitFreak member, but could not find the original post.

Lots of really good info here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-interior-exterior-illumination/83738-how-guide-upgrade-interior-bulbs-led.html

The led lights make a big difference. It's an inexpensive and worthwhile mod.

I did have one of the lights start blinking after a few months, but that's one out of the bunch. It was one of the ones that I put in the license plate area.

Seven years later the J-Technow LED bulbs are blinking. They have a pleasant color, but I wish they were brighter. Anyone have the best and brightest replacement bulbs? I don't care if they are LED or incandescent so long as they are brighter.

I've purchased
these these
a couple times to swap out in a few cars over the years. I've been happy with how bright they are, and I don't recall having any issues with flickering that I can remember. I always forget to swap them back to the original bulbs when I sell my cars, so I can't be 100% sure on their longevity.

Here's An Idea.

How about bringing a flashlight and leaving it in the car in case you need brighter lighting.

Why not suggest he stop driving the car at night/low light conditions.
Better yet, why not suggest getting his eyes checked!
