Worried about getting coil overs
Worried about getting coil overs
So I just had a quick(hopefully) question about getting some coil overs for my GE8...the main concern is, will it void the factory warranty? Would it be better to just get springs such as the RS*R so they could blend in with the factory springs? I know it sounds like I'm being paranoid, but I just bought a Benz a few months ago and the dealer said they've voided warranties because of wrong offset wheels (crazy I know)...But it just got me thinking whether or not Honda would void the factory warranty because of coil overs...
usually dealers will void the warranty for the part that was changed with an aftermarket.
i.e. they won't cover your suspension problems if you have coilovers in there. Doesn't mean if your engine started smoking they wouldn't warranty it just because you had aftermarket suspension.

Even with black rsr springs they'll be able to tell the difference. But like he said if the aftermarket part has no relation to whatever service your taking it in for then they will cover it. But if your shocks blow for whatever reason they will blame it on the springs.
its that easy anymore since the factory cars come with markings on a lot of the parts so they will know if anything was tampered with.
correct, every bolt i removed on my suspension had a yellow paint mark lining it up with the piece it bolted down.
No biggie, are they really going to fight you on this issue. No, esp as we are talking about a few 100$ worth of oem suspension.
PLUS you could have had your car worked on at a seperate shop, its a no brainer :P
if you added coilovers and your antenna melted off in the
summer heat, i think you can still get warranty coverage for
your antenna.
if the part has any relation to the part that failed warranty
might get voided. depends on your dealer. and yes, just
put the stock parts back on if you're anal. ive never had
to have anything replaced under warranty that was damaged
due to aftermarket bits. as long as you play within a reasonable
range you should be fine.
so you ask 'wat is reasonable range?'
that comes from experience.

Very common on Japanese industrial equipment, printing presses and so on.
An assembler marks the bolts as tightened. Each guy (each shift) has a different color. So it is a mechanics mark that is traceable back to him. forgetting to tighten a single bolt is unacceptable in Japanese industrial culture.
Might go back to Demming? (an american consultant) who taught them the importance of quality in the decades of rebuilding their industry after the vast destruction of WW II
No not an alignment mark, that is a Japanese quality thing that might go back to the 1960's
