Downsizing

Just purchased a SSM Fit Sport Auto to replace my wife's 2006 Volvo XC70. So far the Fit is a reasonable substitute. Made a 700 mile round trip last weekend in about the same time as it took in the Volvo. Journey is a mix of mostly freeway with some time in the mountains (around 5000 ft). Fit is fine cruising around 70-80 mph as long as momentum is maintained. Uphill grades are a bit challenging and require dropping down a couple of gears to maintain speed (I was reluctant to really beat on a new engine). Gas mileage was great. At one point the computer showed an average 45 mpg. Overall for the trip was 37 mpg which corrected to 33 mpg. Not too shabby given the new engine, terrain and speeds. The Volvo would average 23-24 mpg for the same trip. My Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 gets about 15 mpg but does have about 4 times the hp and torque of the Fit! Anyway, despite being hp challenged, the Fit is fun to drive. Based upon postings on this forum, I have made a few cosmetic mods. My favorite is the armrest. Expensive, but a quality piece that makes driving more pleasant. Good price from College Hills Honda and not too difficult to install.

Welcome to the forums

Nice pictures, but can you align them vertically rather than horizontally? It makes posts really wide and hard to read.

And our Fit replaced an end of lease BMW 330i. At less than half the price, it still is fun to own and drive. The Orange Revolution paint job makes it quite an attention getter, though many folks don't quite like that color.

Our Fit is replacing a Lexus ES and it is well worth the package! My wife and I fight over who drives all the time now!
