Another set of rpf1s that cost more than my engine and turbo combined?

Edit: nvrmnd you could only buy the engine or the turbo not both for the price of 4 rpf1s

I guess I can guarantee that when I bought my tires AND wheels, they cost more than the engine and turbo combined. Well, your engine and turbo anyway, since it's quite easy for folks to go aftermarket into oblivion.

I'm not trying to be proud of it, just saying it's something I don't regret.

People gotta do what they like, right?

I suppose. Every once in a while I think about getting wheels but I just can't justify the cost. I don't plan on buying new wheels until I can make more power than the widest tire the stock wheels fit can put down to the ground. At that point I'll want some 16x7s so I can put on some 235/40/16

235s? dang... that's wide.

For me, my justification is a combination of things.

Got a flat... had to replace one tire (hole IN THE bubble in sidewall).
Hate stock tires, decided to do the whole set at once. They were all at 6mm already (@12k miles in less than a year of driving!).
Had thought about trying out lighter wheels eventually, this just sped it up. I had TireRack do the mounting and balancing all before they shipped it.

If nothing else, the grip on the new tires are much more exciting than stock. Here's hoping I don't need to start in 3rd gear just to get moving next winter. For whatever reason, I just can't be a reasonable driver.

Ugh, I hate waking up early. But, on the brightside I've got 6 hours to wrench before work. Today's plans include switching oil pans. Finally pulling the old engine out. Dropping the new engine in and getting most of the wiring and sensors done.

How much the new engine cost you? Switching to a MT?

Gave mine a bath.

$500 for an engine with 18k. Didn't accomplish as much as I wanted to. Just got the old engine out and swapped oil pans. Time to put in my 8 hours for the man. I'd rather be in my garage.

I've had my 2011 Base Fit 2 days so far and I am already working on it. Today I added a spring to the throttle peddle to stiffen it up a bit (it's really nice now) and am painting the upper glove box to match the outside of the car. When I get my new head unit and install kit I will paint the bezel of that to match as well.

Not until I blow this AT up. Frankly I'm starting to really really like this transmission. Yes it robs some power but it is so buttery smooth, and never breaking boost between shifts has advantages. I swear this AT was designed for a more powerful engine. There is just something awesome about putting power down during the shift.

(yesterday)

I got into a pissing match with a Beemer.

The only thing that happened was... I showed him that I was willing to speed up, to get OUT of people's way. And he showed that he was willing to slow down to STAY in people's way.

I really hate some drivers.
