What did you do to your GE fit today?

He had an AE86.
Wanderer, I can't hate them, even I've contemplated getting reps lately. Just focusing on buying nice tires rather than nice wheels.
That said, most people who buy reps also buy Falken 512's and then discuss how they're an amazing tire and grip like nothing else in the world.

They're a standard all season tire.
Nothing special in terms of grip, don't last all that long, etc.
Just not a good tire. IIRC, my SSR Comps had either 512's or Kumho ASX on them. I wasn't a fan, car felt under-tired all the time, although most tires aren't up to the spring rates on that car.

Just some reps (sorry Mike lol) and lots of meat. Car's super dirty so just a teaser pic for now, i'll take better ones that show clearance and all that later.
- Konig Helium 15x6.5 +40 (I think that's the offset). Waiting for these cheap bad boys to explode, i'll be the first to let you guys know when they do. If so that's ok, wheels are cheaper than the tires.
- Yokohama S-Drive 205/55/15
- Tein S-Tech, stock shocks (77k miles)
- Stock fenders
No rub. Try as I might I couldn't get it to. Definitely ok for DD, I haven't done any crazy stuff yet but Uturns and high speed tight onramps are fine. By my calculations this wheel tire combo saved ~6 lbs per wheel over the stock steelies and 195/60/15 Falkens 512 I had, i'll take actual weights later.
I will say the ride is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better, tractions SOOOOOOOO much better accel and corner. It feels like a real car now. I think the shocks were having a hard time damping the tall sidewalls + extra tire weight + drop springs.
I left for work this morning and the car felt slower, was kind of pissed, thought maybe the tires were heavier than I had researched + the compound and tread width.
I then realized I had the defroster on.

I love the meaty look as well. And what is the stock tire size on the Base model? Cuz I think the 205/55/15 is the same overall diameter as the stock 185/55/16 (or 205/50/16 - a popular replacement) on the Sports. So you're speedometer and odometer might read wrong. But you probably already knew that.
Would love something like Mugen RNR! I would be so afraid of them getting stolen though I couldn't live with it . I say go for it.
My old Corolla
All sub 100hp of fury 195/60/14 Azenis and decent suspension so it was fun anyway.

Well, I will say for $65 a tire it's hard to beat the lateral grip in the dry (I mean cost vs reward wise) but here's the problems:
1) TERRIBLE wet performance. I mean taking off from a light in the rain is a practice in throttle modulation with 117hp.
2) Sidewalls are made out of recycled used condoms I think. The only thing that swayed much on the car was the sidewalls. Was terrible and had to run high pressure to get rid of it.
3) Don't hook well in the dry. Not terrible, but definitely nothing to write home about either.
4) Wear fast (30-35k miles) good thing they're so cheap, which is why I didn't mind. I actually had two sets of 512s so far.
In conclusion:
For the money they're decent tires for canyon runs and stuff like that, they audibly let you know when they're coming loose before they really lose it which is important for stuff like that for safety reasons. If you have the money though it's better to just move up to something like Direzza, S Drive, of BFG SC2, because the "all season" draw of the 512 just isn't there, they SUCK in the rain, might as well be summer tires without the grip.
Thank you sir, I appreciate it.

I remember seeing those Corollas on the show room when I brought my very first new car a 1985 Celica GT. Back then they were consider an economy car at the same time the MR2 was just released. Funny how cars that people were not excited about when they were readily available become desired later.

Great f@%$# choice, btw!!!
I also got 205/55/15's (Kumho 4x) on my 15's, and 205/50/16 (DWS) on my 16 sport wheels. I too love a meaty tire.

Yes! I was already interested in the Fit at that point so I was happy to be on track with one. He had that blinking "Fit" 3rd brake light and it was tripping everyone out in the brake zones
IIRC he only got two sessions in due to clutch issues which was unfortunate, I was enjoying getting passed. I think that was the same day my alternator pulley decided to depart from my alternator after a bad 4-2 heel toe, I saw it fly out from behind the car in my rear view and into the dirt Friend drove me to Autozone and bought a new alternator and went back out.
Thanks for compliment!
How are the Kumho 4x? The last Kumho I had was ASX in 205/50 (different car) and they were pretty good for the price. I actually ran circuit on those once and destroyed the tread blocks from too low pressure and over-driving them but they still held up like a champ afterwards. The guy at America's Tire was like "wtf" when I came in to rotate
I'd get them then, a classic wheel in perfect size for the Fit IMO.
Yeah about the second part it's insane how much people are asking for them now. I got mine for $1200 in pretty mint condition, less than 100k with maintenance records since it was new. People are now asking so much I almost wish I would have waited to sell.

The wheels around here would not be a problem however, I would still get wheel locks for when I travel.

They're pretty close to the DWS's, which I couldn't get b/c they don't offer a 15" (or atleast didn't at the time).
I'd give the DWS' the edge in rain & snow, and the 4x the slight edge in dry... imo.
It looks just as good as I thought.

Thanks! If I were to go 16 205/50 would be my choice as well.
I was able to get this setup to rub, although barely, going about 65 in a off-camber (or flat, not positive) sweeping turn when I hit a bump on the loaded side. Totally ok with that and it was just a little "shhht", fender liner rub. Good deal.

Still not a fan of the half-lips. Just to reminiscent of 90s/early 2000s ricey body kits that have the sides extended like fangs vs a full lip.
Do have to say, looks better on silver than one white because the gap tape blends in whereas on any other color (besides maybe dark metallic and black) it'd stand out.

wow, your car looks very sharp and sporty with the combination of the modulo lips and modulo center garnish
I might be bias, but I think our car actually looks better in person than the pictures can justify with that modulo lips
oh, don't forget to change the picture on your signature, cause it still show your car without the modulo lips (only the center garnish)
