What did you do to your GE fit today?
I can see not needing it. In fact most of the time it didn't bother me. (Similar to how I felt about the lack of a dead pedal in my GD.. then I bought one.) After about a year of driving the GE and still getting a random awkward shift here and there, I figured I would give it a try. It feels a lot better and it really didn't cost that much. Maybe I can't drive or adapt or whatever. Doesn't really matter to me. It's like any other mod. Its your car. Do what you want. But I'll say again, if you've been on the fence about it, just get it. You probably wont be disappointed.
And for Wanderer and anyone else in the Bay Area or Sacramento, you're free to try it out at the next meet I make it out to.
Wanderer is right, in that i wasn't arguing whether it was better or not.
My only real issue was that some folks want to express their opinions as facts and say "everyone" should do this or that because they like it that way.
I wholeheartedly agree that having some, majority or even all users able to adapt to something doesn't make it better... However, by the same token, having people unable to adapt (regardless of experience/willingness), doesn't necessarily make it bad either.
We can come to some conclusion about it being good or bad, if we set rules/conditions for it. But it becomes specific conditions... would it slow down a race driver? Probably in fractions of seconds, even though it can make or break a race. Would it prevent said racer from shifting smoothly? No. Where those fractions of seconds aren't quite so important, could a person drive aggressively and still smoothly? Yes. All conditions require time and effort though. So on and so forth.
If you don't like the CDV, its your prerogative to change it or not, and that being said, I agree with 07fit916 in that, if you're on the fence, it could be worth a try. Worst case scenario... You change it back (unless something or other breaks).
Pozzi, in regards to your shifting out of gear only after fully depressing the pedal... I don't, but I guess it is because I've become used to the basic timing and position if the pedal where it (dis)engages.

De36, they are 16x7+42 and tires are 215/45R16 all around. Nothing good in sizing really to stagger with the Miche(err, BFGoodrich Rivals) and keeping circumference similar front and rear. On my 15" CE28s was using AD050s in 215/50 fr and 195/55 rr as they are in circumference just 3mm different, but fronts wear away faster (595mm to 592mm) in width it was 229mm up front and 205mm rear and the car felt really good, neutral and predictable with that sizing. The BFRivals are 213mm wide, so giving up a bit of width on the front end and gaining in the rear (hopefully doesn't induce more understeer), but it may not be a bad thing being that the fit packs ovaries and not testes under the bonnet so the decreased width may speed it up with less friction fighting the anemic power output.
The main thing holding me back is free time.... and lacking the necessary skills. I might be able to build the fk out of a house from foundation to finish.... but I'm not too experienced with auto maintanance.
If anyone in the NYC area wants to teach me some skills I can get this done before the snow season starts. lol.
Air scoop?
