It is my first new car I've ever bought, so I'm hoping to keep it for a long time.

I traded in a 2007 Sport manual for my 2009 Sport automatic. I plan to pay off my Fit and retire next year (63 years) with no car payments, and a car that will hopefully last me well into old age. That's the plan; that my Fit will outlast me!

Hopefully at least 10 years....like the Malibu (gack) it replaced. What's really funny is just before I posted this, the ad on the page was for a Malibu .

A long time. I'm hoping to get somewhere in the 150000-200000 miles range out of it.

So far I'm at 2800, so I think I've got a lot of time left in it.

i plan on keeping both FitS's for a while. it's my dd (beater)
so until it doesnt function i dont see why i would need to get
rid of it.

i made the mistake long time ago when i prematurely sold my
03 MazdaProtege5 (wagon) also bought new cash at the time.

ended up having second thoughts of selling it cause it was
a pretty useful car and functioned well as dd and winter beater.
not making the same mistake twice....plus, the Fit's are waay
better cars than a Mazda. (aka Japanese Hyundai)

My plan is to keep it going for as long as I can.

See my Civic Below? It's 21 years old now and is going to be a learner car for my son very soon. He wasn't around when I bought it. I hadn't even met my wife at the time.

It took me 5 years payments to pay off the Civic. After that, I continued to put money aside into a "car account" and, when it came time to purchase my Fit last fall, the money was there. The Fit's completely payed for. I'm now building a new "car account".

Well this is pretty cool, seems like everyone is going to hold on to their Fit for as long as it will run. We should have a contest, and check back in like seven or eight years to see if we all still have our Fits.

If I was in an accident and my car was totaled I would go right back and buy another, that's how much I like this car. There is a long stretch of very curvy road (about three miles) that I have to drive just before I get to the office. Well this morning I had an IS350 coming up fast behind me just as I turned on to the curvy road. He got in the next lane over and floored it and I did the same. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of his face as we got to the red light at the end of the three mile road. He was just amazed my little micro car kept up with his $45,000 Lexus the entire way. Moments like that are priceless.

The car is too much fun for its price, and I'm not complaining.

I plan on keeping mine for 10 or more years. My son just turned 8, so he may inherit the Fit one day.

That is my strategy. I'll never be without a sportbike as long as I can still get a leg over one!

In the meantime I love my Fit, it does everything I need it to do and it's a great hedge against gas inflation due to the amazing gas mileage.

So what about you?
Used to buy a couple of cars per year but after the Obama Social Democrats I plan on keeping my 5 cars to at least 200,000 miles each. By then I'll be cremated and vehicles left to grandkids.

I plan on keeping mine as long as possible. Its my daily driver and with my very long commute every day I plan on putting 30k miles a year. So hopefully in 10 years I will have 300k miles on it

Considering I kept my Integra for about 17 years and 250K miles. I don't think my 2007 Fit is going anywhere anytime soon.

i am hoping for 300+ on the motor who knows, but unless the body rusts out (possibility in 10 years as I live in the north east) i don't plan on getting rid of it... ever.

it might get a new engine before that for funzies though

At least 15 years. At the 11 year mark, I plan on giving it to my daughter who is only 5 now.

My last car only (2000 Cougar) lasted 9-1/2 years before it needed $2500 of work for a $3000 car. Had to go at that point. One of the main reasons I got the Fit was the relability rating.

That's awesome man. It's great to hear that so many people on here are smart enough to want to keep their cars long enough to make them worthwhile!

I plan on having my fit until it dies. I drive 20k miles a year, and I damn well better still have it in 10 years. 15 would be better.
I'm only 25 and this is my 4th vehicle already But the others were old clunkers and who knows how well they were maintained (or not). I think the carfax on my civic reported 7-8 owners in 11 years by the time I got her. Blew the head gasket at 188k.
