Question Fit 2009 windshield replace - unavailable replacement (Houston)!

Anyone from Houston here and have windshield trouble? I got big cracks on my 6 month-old 2009 Fit from two chips (Yeah, that soon!), so I need to replace my windshield. But I called many places and to my surprise they don't have the stock, either original or aftermarket. The only place that have it is the dealer, but they charge like 800+ bucks, which is a total ripoff. Anyone have similar experience? If it is not too far, I am willing to drive, eg. Dallas or San Antonio... I know Houston is a large city but I cannot believe they don't have anything here!

Jeff

Doesn't your insurance cover that? You should just have to pay your deductible, unless of course you dont have comprehensive.

We sure seem to be having a lot of trouble with windshield glass. Get a low deductible on comprehensive (very cheap compared to collision) and forget about it.

Cheers.

Up here it's only a few dollars a year extra for full window glass coverage (no deductable). You guys are making me glad I have it!

To my dismal, I only have liability insurance. That's why I just need to pay it from my ow pocket.

I keep my comprehensive at $50 just because of windshield issues since it's a no fault comp claim.

You only have liability insurance for a brand new car? You do understand that doesn't cover your car at all in an accident, only the other parties car. And if the other party hits you and they don't have comprehensive, you'll be in court for months with lawyers trying to get money.

Makes sense not to have a comprehensive insurance if you car is 5K or less. Otherwise, I'd get comprehensive coverage on your car fast. I assume you own your car outright also since it's usually required to have comprehensive on a lease or financed car.

Get Comprehensive on your car.

Can you PM me which insurance company you have? Mine doesn't give that option, it's part of the comprehensive.

If you only have liability insurance for your Fit, you must have paid cash.

Buy the windshield!
