Exclamation fit vs accord crash test

I wonder why didn't all of the side curtains deploy - only the driver's side did.

Because the test was an "offset frontal crash", where the impact was between the left front corners of each car, and the passenger side was not involved. At least, that's my guess.

Could it also be that there wasn't any weight on the passenger seat, effectively turning off the passenger side airbags?

good call.

the accords passenger curtains deploy though.

I would think if you're already wasting $20k, why not load up the car with dummies to get all the data. 1 front passenger, 1 kid, and a baby in a car seat.

Maybe because most cars are driven by a single person most of the time and they wanted to simulate real conditions as much as possible... with total weight and all...

The uproar over this crash test is ridiculous. The Fit held up remarkably well, all things considered.

Watch the Camry vs. Yaris if you want to see some fun. About 40 seconds in is where the most disturbing images are shown. At least the Fit kept the driver enclosed.

Also, pieces of the Yaris go flying through the cabin. The Fit's don't.

Exactly. At least in the Fit you have a good looking corpse.
