Is the passenger airbag light suppose to be on with no one setting in the front on the passenger's side or is it only on when some on is sitting on the passenger's side?

I think it comes on when the passenger side air bag is deactivated.

 

It becomes deactivated when a certain weight is in the seat...

Something like 30 lbs to 60 lbs.

This simulates the weight of a child who might be hurt if the air bags deployed at them.


The light should go on for a few seconds at each start-up (bulb/system test) then go off, as long as the seat is empty.

PS junk under the front passenger seat (even a floormat) can effect the operation of the seat sensors.
