I seem to recall that it only costs something like $220 for the parts. Anyone know if it is an easy install so that a newb like me can order it from tehir parts guys and install it myself? $200 to sinatll something like this seems crazy.
I have the install guide for the Middle Console. Contact me offline and I'll fax or scan and email them to you.

No. Crazy is paying what the dealer wants for installing locking lugs, the leather shift knob, or the floor mats. I'm pretty sure that all three items could be done in less than 10 minutes, but cost like $250 for the installation charges.

Bernardi and the other online shops usually post a 'how to' which you can view before you even order.
The genuine Honda FSM is the way to go, otherwise.

The console is not terribly difficult to install.

College Hills honda has the console for $179, instructions, and a how-to video on doing the install. i may have to look into this as I miss a center console armrest.

http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hon...ccessories.htm

one quick question for those that have it, does it also slide fowards and backwards or just flip up and open?

The cushion on top the console slides forward on a ratchet.

I'm interested in the center console, but I thought it was only for A/T models? I have an M/T but would kinda like that extra storage

If you watch the Video on College Hills, I believe it uses the current center console and adds the armrest to it. (going from memory). In theory, it should work for either.

I installed it on mt MT 09 Fit Sport, and it DOES NOT get in the way of shifting at all. I can even extend the top padded portion all the way to the front, and still be able to shift.

Net, just do it, no problems!!!

EDIT: Note that I sit all the way back! If you slide your seat forward (you are shorter?), then this may change things for you...

Now that's interesting. With mine all the way forward, it makes tugging the AT shifter problematic. Not that you have to tug it all that often...

Well, I do sit ALL THE WAY BACK. So I guess if you are shorter, and slide the seat forward, this changes everything!

Not really a major problem. Just happened to notice it yesterday when my wife pulled the armrest fully forward; in that position, I wondered if it would bother a manual.
It really is a nice thing for a passenger; never thought the driver's side armrest was worth a hoot.

They DO say that, but I think they're just trying to save their a$$es in case of a lawsuit

Now, if you look at the Honda installation manual, the procedure has specific steps for installation on a MANUAL 5 SPEED model. It's true! I have the installation manual in front of me...

I'm having the dealer install the center console on my Fit Sport M/T this Friday. I'll take pictures and post afterwards.

Did the lacing for the shift boot, shift knob, parking brake and armrest get replaced, or am I looking at a different model year interior?

Please update on the original topic. I'm very interested in a DIY on getting an armrest for the passenger seat to match the driver's. I am not down to pay 220 for something I don't think is necessary. Not to mention its obviously semi obstructive of the parking break which doesn't look good.
