I hit a Lazy Boy Recliner

Yep,

It was Sunday night at about 10:45. I run my 09 SSM with lights and fog lights on. The chair was in the middle of the right lane. I didn't see it until I was almost on top of it. The car handled nicely as I swerved right. Caught the chair with the left side, taking out the fog light, the main light a little, and a big scratch/dent along the drivers side door. According to the insurance adjuster all that plus other things equals over $3000 worth of damage. The guys at the Honda body shop assured me that th number would go up. On the positive side the car remained completely drivable and I was not hurt.

A LAZY BOY!!!!!!!!

Best,

Dave

The Fit is one of several small cars that are expensive to fix in low-speed collisions according to the IIHS. Only 6 mph!

How did I hit it? Just like Uncle Gary described. Also factor in that this stretch of I35 has little to no lighting at all. No texting, talking, drinking, eating, or any other "ing" involved.

Best,

Dave

So, tell me why again did you go right instead of left?

^^x2, and it sounds like this is a pretty empty road so you could probably see quite away ahead of you, sounds you like you weren't paying attention IMO

I swerved right out of some previously unused reflex.

Its easy to second guess every decision now. But in the heat of the moment you don't know how you would have handled the situation or reacted.

Dave I'm sorry to hear what happened, good luck with repairs

And not to rub salt in the wound but there is a reclinersplus.com ad on this thread right now lol

I hit something on the highway a month ago (possibly dog/cat/ or other similar size debris)... knocked out both fogs and scratched the bumper and hood... $1,300 damage and that ain't a lazy boy!

Gbaby,

You had to be there or be sitting in the passenger seat. Believe me if I could have seen it I would have avoided it, because I don't have anything better to do with $500 than pay an insurance deductible IMO.

Best,

Dave
