little vent near steering wheel

Does anybody know what those little vents near the steering wheel on the dash are? I can't find anything in the manual and nothing comes up when I search the forum.

Got a picture? On my RX-8 there is a microphone behind a vent near the steering wheel that measures ambient noise level for the stereo, which adjusts the volume accordingly.

this may be it.
the only other thing i can think of is for auto temp controls to sense
temp but we don't even have that.

not sure about yours.. but in JDM version, that is for the auto climate control temperature sensor.
