Canadian Fit, installing map light /or home link

Hi guys, this question goes out to the Canadian fit owners out there, I tried searching but came up with no direct conclusions, so I made a new thread. Has any canadian owners able to install a map light, or cut a hole and found existing wire harness in there? or do you have to run power from the little light on the roof in the back seats? Help please!!! how can a car go without a map light?

I am in the US but this information might be helpful. My 09 Base Manual Fit came with no map lights either, but I was able to install the Homelink Map light set from an old Acura, just like this link.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...k-install.html

When I cut open the headliner, there were no wires in there, so I had to wire it from the dome light, which is trivial, really. 2 wires, one is 12 volts, the other is door switched ground. You also need a permanent ground, which you can get by screwing right onto to the bracket on the roof.

There was a metal bracket on the roof, probably where the OEM maplight mounts, but since I was not installing the Fit maplight, I had to make my own holes in the bracket to match the Acura map light. Quick job, I was done in less than an hour.

The lights behave just like the dome light, they come on with the doors, the keyless entry unlock and they dim slowly. They can also be turned on with the pushbutton switches. Homelink works great. Cost was about $30 for the maplight on Ebay.

My wife bought me a NAVI. She knew I will be driving a long ways in my new FIT and would get lost. I did manage to figure out the bluetooth as well. Neat.
