My wife and I (I mean our new Fit) killed our 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee today. We purchased an '09 Fit Sport A/T with Navi for $15K with CFC.
I kept hearing the music from all those slasher movies while our Fit was doing this to our poor Jeep. "Eee Eee Eee Eee ...Da Dum Da Dum."
It's covered in bloody Milano Red, so I think we will name it REDRUM.

My mom drives a 98 grand cherokee. Maybe I can get her into a Fit.

 

I traded just that.
a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I thought I'd be sad to leave the car with so many memories attached to it. After getting my Fit I never looked back.

A F150 that I bought new in '92. It's been a great vehicle, 14 mpg aside.

It was a straight 6 4.9L, with 5 spd MT. I was thinking about this last night. Besides the usual stuff you'll have worked on over 17 years, tune ups and oil changes, brakes, mufflers and tailpipes, etc, I had replace,

The battery twice,

The alternator twice,

The water pump once, and

The valve cover gasket once.

That's it.

Not bad for 17 years.

Sad to see it go, but driving the Fit to work this morning, I think I'll get over it.

 

Yesterday I put down a $500 reservation fee so I can pick up my Black 2009 Fit Sport AT. Will be trading in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee thank god. Excited!

 

I happened across this post on Google, and where I think death to Grand Cherokees isn't necessarily a bad thing I felt the urge to jump in and defend the Jeep, at least a little.

My station wagon might run out of gas before yours, but I'll take mine during an emergency, in an accident, and certainly off road.

Although I am glad people are getting more fuel efficient vehicles, so there will be more gas for me.

Nice rig MUDDEROY. Please don't get me wrong, I loved that Jeep and feel bad that it will be destroyed. This will be the first time in almost 15 years there won't be a Jeep parked in our driveway, but like Sonny said in the Godfather "It's not personal, it's business".

 

I'm going in at 6 tonight to finalize my CFC deal - Goodbye to my 2000 Jeep Cherokee (in decent condition, really, just some misfires and transmission issues) and hello to my new orange 09 Fit Sport w/ the manual transmission & Mugen quick-shift. Woooooooooooo!

That said, I'll miss the Jeep, she sure could romp in the MN winters.

 

 

Yes the zombies. I'm ready for the zombies. I started building up my Jeep after hurricane Rita threatened us and the neighbors evacuated, they were stuck on the roads for 12 hours, and went 5 miles(?!?!?!)

 

lol thanks. Yep, 99% of the time I just need to get from point A to point B, so if I had a pogo stick that would do 50 mph, it would work for what I needed. The Jeep is just fun. I'm hoping to get a Wrangler for my wife in the next year or so.

I traded a 1989 Cherokee with 261,200 mi for a Fit sport. It was hard to say goodbye to my old girl but she had 3 wheels in the grave already. I only paid $400 for the Jeep so I got a pretty good return on my money.

 

Funny this was posted - I picked up my Fit last night.

2009 Fit Sport, Taffeta White, MT w/o nav. $13k OTD with wheel locks after the trade. The 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4wd/5spd needs a clutch (throwout bearing howling like a banshee) and may have needed other unforeseen maintenance in the very near future, as the drivetrain is not making the most healthy noises. Has a bit of body damage, but overall it was in pretty good shape. I bought it for $890 almost exactly a year ago, and put about 4000 miles on it - pretty happy with how this all turned out.

The Fit's perfect. I couldn't be happier. I've been lusting for a Fit since the 2007's came stateside.

I just traded in our 95 Jeep Cherokee. We considered it part of pour family and it felt like we put our dog to sleep.... :-( I'm sure it will get better.

I do like my FIT but it is sad

 

Its true, I was more sad about the Jeep than happy about the fit... The Jeep Cherokee was a badge of poorness... excise tax & insurance was nothing, we could run over everything, go anywhere... if someone hit my car I'd ask if their car was okay... I'd have people key their initials into the side...
It will be missed!
