TSB Update MPG done
I'll post this here as well....Just had the software update done. I had to read the TSB number to the dealership who then looked it up...He questioned me if my FIT was effected by the TSB. He read that it said "ALL" and made the appt for me with no problem
First fill up after correction and I'm glad to say that actual was 31 MPG and Meter was 31.1....Right on!

I'm not sure about this. I drive my fit like it's an Indy car. I love the sound of 6800 rpm and reach it at every chance possible. Yet, I have never gotten below 30 mpg actual. When I drive like a granny I see little improvement over the same stretch of road that I have driven aggresively over previously. I have to assume something is wrong with his fit or he drives stop and go. Even cruise control at 85 mph will yield 35 mpg.
I am not a lead foot but I don't mind letting loose some RMPs from time-to-time. After all, the reasons I bought this over the civic are cargo space and fun factor. Around where I live, there are plenty of winding roads with not much traffic where you can have some fun and use the gears.
So, my Fit only has 1K miles but so far, I've never had a tank below 33 mpg. I've never had a tank of all highway driving to report on but I had a few that were like 80/20 highway/town. I am getting 38-39 easy on those tanks (I drive pretty mildly on the highway…usually at 65 the whole time and keeping as steady as I can but I am in no way obsessive about it). I have no doubt that 40+ can be had on the highway with good, steady driving practices.
Disclaimer: I live in the burbs so I can get pretty good mileage around town due to favorable driving conditions. Still, it's hard to imagine that someone can average mid or low twenties with this car, but I suppose if the conditions are right (or maybe I should say wrong) …

Selden..I had the same experience with a Toyota dealership...lazy salesmen, who actually ran down their own Scion, because, according to them, only a few salesmen are authorized to sell them. When I bought my Fit, the expeience was great. I then went back to the same dealership to look at a Crosstour, and could not get any salesman to help me. I even stood by a car, tried to open doors, spent a long time looking it over..right in front of a crowd of salesmen shooting the bull. And I was the ONLY customer in the dealership! You just never know what these guys are going to do. My mpg indicator is now back to less than 1 mpg off. Pretty good. Still averaging 36.7 in city driving. (I get the same on highway driving, too)
Your Fit can power that all day long. I have a 900 watt rms class d and 360 rms watt a/b - both cea 2006 compliant. Now that I've upgraded the grounding strap I barely get any headlight dimming except at idle. I have to say that amp seems a bit over priced though, you could get 2 dedicated amps for a lower price with more power but JL has always been on the expensive side.
Yes and better than other cars I have had my setup in there is no dimming of head lights and any other prob except I'm afraid my windshiled is gonna pop off when it hits lol I also am running a radar dector a gps and 4 neon lights all the time. The battery will last about 25 mins b4 it won't turn my car over anymore. The guy at the stero shop that helpe ne install it checke everything with a fluke meter and said it was all good and better than most cars he has installed in. But just FYI it's a major pita to get 4 Gage wire ran lol
If your mpg gauge is reading consistently below what you calculate manually it's the first time I've heard this happen.
this is the best thread, I think.

Last tank was a good example. Display showed 33.2mpg, hand calculated at 33.8mpg. Not really far enough off, and if I'm getting that mpg I don't mind much really.
my MPG monitor is almost always too high but is almost always less than 1 mpg off.
last 25 tanks:
too high: 19 times
too low: 5 times
exactly accurate: 1 time
16 of the 25 times the error was less than 1 mpg.

Has anyone tried to have the software update done but told that it was already the latest version? I have a 09 fit sport navi and based on the past year's data, it is off by about 4.4 which for me is almost 15% off. I took it into the dealer and when they hooked it up, they said I already had the latest version installed.
The bulletin says that it should be updated to "37805-RP3-4050 or later". My documentation says that they saw that my car had "37805-RP3-A730". Seems odd since for mine it has a random letter in the last 4 group...
Any ideas?

If you limit "version numbers" to only digits, then you get about ten times for each position (xxx gives about a thousand). But the moment you include letters, it jumps. If you know what hexadecimals are, that's 16 times per position. If you use the whole alphabet, it's 26. Letters and number is 36.
Are you assuming they're just using numbers? Cause it's already shown that they use letters in the middle.
While I can't speak for them, it is perfectly acceptable for letters to "come after" numbers... Meaning, you do have a higher version number.
are you measuring it after every tank of gas?
i'd ask them to update the software anyway.... or go to another dealer if there's one close by. because 4.4 is bogus

Have them update your software to most current they have on file and I bet your problem will be fixed.

I called a different dealer's service department, but the service manager there didn't impress me on the phone so I've just decided to live with the MPG meter being off. When people ask me how I like my Fit, I tell them I really like it but am disappointed that Honda can't correct the MPG meter.
