So here are the questions:

1. Forr those who own 2009 Fit Sports, what size winter tires are you running?
2. I have a set of 205/65/R15 and 195/65/R15 (both without steelies), will either set fit on the 09 Sport (provided I buy 15" steel rims)?

i thought i was running 185/60/15 WS60's on 15x7 wheels for the GE.

im going to get the stock size 195/55/15's for my GD this winter...in fact, i think im going to tirerack in a few weeks to get an early start.

 

I just checked Tirerack earlier this morning. Any clue why no steel wheels are available? I understood somewhat last winter as they were brand new, but after a year I expected general availability of steel wheels.

 

I don't think they have steelies yet as they won't be readily selling winter tires. Once winter comes around, they'll have some I'm sure. you might want to call as they probably have them but just not listed as available online.

yep, it's too early still. they're trying to rid the summer stuff now before the end of season to make room for winter.

 

this is, however, a great time to pick up a used set. i'm getting one for my M3 that was 1300 new, i am payin 700 for it. used 1 season.

 

yah, that's true. i have these wheels that i fixed and painted sitting in my garage waiting to be outfitted with WS60's.

not bad. mine are typical 5 spoke rims. not too particular about what they look like. I'f get steels if i could, but I cant go smaller than 17" cause of the brakes.

 

I'm going to use GSR wheels as my winter set.

Right now I'm looking at the General Altimax HP for winter/all-round use.

I am currently have these as 195/65/15 on my 03 jetta and enjoy them very much, but will be putting my winterforces back on in nov. However, upstate, ny are much different than MD winters.

 

Yeah, my mother drives a 2008 BMW 328i, and she managed last winter with summer tires. She only got stuck once, and it was in our neighborhood.

The correct size (of the two sets you have) is the 205 65/15 for maintaining overall diameter (per Tire size calculator ) The 195's are off by 1.9% which isn't bad but will throw off the speedo by 1-2mph.

That Said, I'd recommend for winter driving the 195's because of the width. in the winter you want a narrower tire so if you can't go 185 or 175, go with the 195's

I'm going to be looking at the 185's or 175's on Steelies for this winter.

I'm thinking about these on my GSR wheels. Everyone who has had them says that they're awesome all season tires.

 

Probably the best size winter tires is 175/65R15 on stock steel wheels. That is what I'm running. Bought my steel wheels from a Honda dealer, wasn't too expensive.

Both the 205/65 and 195/65 are going to have a larger diameter, the 205s are 1.5" and 195s are 1" larger diameter. Workable, but your speedometer will be off. Also, for snow tires, narrower is better.

 

They won't have a 1" or greater diameter due to the fact the Fit sport comes with 16" wheels 185/65/16 stock. The Base Fit has a 1.5" smaller overall diameter. The OP is looking at 15" wheels so the 205's will come in with a .1% difference (essentially a perfect diameter match) but the big problem with them is the width and the car's weight. The FIT is a relatively light car (especially for 205's) and you want a narrower tire to cut through the snow and not ride up on it. My Nissan altima had 215's and that was an 800+lb heavier car. The best tire width is 175 or 185 but it'll be greater than 65% sidewall height for the 175's (more like 75%).

No, the stock tire size for the Fit sport is 185/55R16, not 65. For 15" wheels, the correct tire size is 175/65R15.

 

I am going to put steel on for winter and am wondering what choices we have for wheels. I am not crazy about paying approx $100 for Fit wheel from a Honda dealer. What else could I search for used?

Call up local junkyards and ask for wheels for your saturn, tell them 4x100. They'll give you whatever price they charge american car owners for steel wheels that fit your fit. Don't ask for honda wheels, they jack up the price on anything that will fit a civic because they can.

 

Are you saying Saturn wheels would fit ok?
