09 Center Armrest Question!

Hey guys i want a center armrest for my 09 FIT!!! but instead of the OEM one i was looking at this 2009 HONDA FIT Armrest storage 09 cup holder:eBay Motors (item 380148775959 end time Sep-12-09 00:21:32 PDT) no drilling, no taking apart center piece. My question is do you guys think this will be good? Does anybody have this? Its cheaper than the OEM one and very easy to install ("just put between the seats").

Looks kinda interesting. There's never enough pictures and info with this kind of thing. I'd want to know if the honda armrest cover was included, which I'm sure it isn't. You need to put that on when you take off the stock armrest. Even if they say their armrest will cover the spot, I still wouldn't want that gaping hole with loose fabric without a cover in place. And I'd like to see a couple of pics showing how exactly it sits in there with no anchor support, which brings up the question- how sturdy is it? Will it wobble about...really? And how high is the armrest? It looks a bit high. The back cup holder looks lame. One turn or bump and a drink is a gonner. Thankfully the fit itself provides good cup holders. I'd get one without the strip down the middle. Looks interesting, but I'd need to know more before plunking down 130 bucks total for the thing- which is I guess why you're asking! LOL!

I'm assuming the OP has a Base model in which case they wouldn't need the honda armrest cover.

I suppose the question is... is a pleather coated box with plastic dividers inside worth $100? Then again, you could say the same thing for the Honda option which is more expensive, except that it actually mounts and folds up out of place when not in use.

As far as the back cupholder... does the fit really need more cupholders?? :P
Besides that thing is really just for the passengers anyway; depends upon how often you drive passengers around.

The OEM piece seems to be well engineered; this thing is of unknown provenance. OP could be a guinea pig and report back. Usually (although not always) you get what you pay for.

The base Fit doesn't have the DRIVER armrest?? Wow. If that's the case, yeah, a base fit would make this one easier. There really is the concern about the armrest cover. If it weren't for that, I'd probably pick one up and give it a shot. Oh well, hopefully someone will try it and let us know.

mmmmm this ebay item looks like a cheaply upholstered uncomfortable wooden box with a fold out cup "tray" on back. Pass.

I'm eyeing the oem center armrest too. It's $180 plus shipping and DIY. How much does your dealer charge, gantech?

thanks for all the replys. i was hoping someone tried it out or actually saw it from somewhere but i guess not which means no go for this armrest. I asked the seller exactly how you install it because it says "install in 10 sec" and he just said "stick it between the seats"....

Going to wait alittle longer to see if we can get a reply from someone who has this, if not i think im going to pay the extra to get the OEM to be on the safe side.

That square one on eBay "press fits" between the seats. If you move any of the front seats the armrest will move. Also may shift if you stop short or bang it while driving. It has a pressboard core covered with vinyl. Won't work if you have a Fit SPORT.

Recommend you check out the Zeta armrest. If you are TALL, you will like it just fine. I drive with my seat all the way back and the backrest about 3 clicks from vertical. My arm falls naturally on the armrest. If you are short, you will like the factory armrest better since the top slides forward to compensate.

The Zeta takes about 15 minutes total to install and includes a cover for the sport seats factory armrest.

I do like the Zeta armrest look better and it is also easy to install, BUT the question comes up again...how sturdy is it? It looks like it fits in that square "Chinese food" cup holder and thats it?. So can will it be sturdy and not fall out of place while driving??

EDIT::: OKAY i couldn't wait for a reply from you guys so i went ahead and purchased it right now (im really impatient) SOO I will post up reviews about it wen i get it and maybe post some picks if i figure out how to do it (and if im not lazy). THANKS FOR TELLING ME ABOUT IT

This is my hesitation with all the optional armrests. I don't know if one or the other will be right for me. Frankly, I like the armrest on my drivers seat in my sport. I don't have a need for more storage options, so that's out. The only reason I'd do the center armrest is for passenger comfort, but not at my expense- I'm the DRIVER! So that all adds up to me not doing anything at this point. If I had a base with no drivers armrest, it would be a must-do though, that's for sure. Personally, I feel an armrest for the right arm/elbow for the driver is a must.

I went and got the OEM storage armrest

I had the dealer install, and I like it much better than the seat attached one. It is more comfortable, you get storage (a little) and for me...it is the perfect height. I have an injury to my right arm, so need to rest it when driving. (That's also why I drive AT...bummers)

I looked at the Zeta armrest, and compared to the OEM one, it didn't look like it was attached nearly as well, or solid. Since I don't have one, can't say for sure.

I have noticed that when I have a passenger, they use it too - and it doesn't bother me at all.

I just installed my OEM armrest last week. It was really quite simple. Probably the hardest part was drilling the holes haha. It feels really comfortable and well made. very sturdy.I would recommend OEM over anything else.

Also if looking to DIY, check out the video at collegehillshonda.com. they have a good video showing step by step what to do. the only tool i had to buy was the a 19mm hole saw that you can get at home depot or lowes.

I went with the OEM Honda armrest and never looked back.

It's so worth the money. I'm very happy with it.
