Rear Wiper Operation On An 09 Fit

Hello,

I have a pretty stupid question that I was hoping someone could answer. How exactly is the rear wiper supposed to operate? On my '09, when I switch it from off to on, it swipes across the back twice, and then there seems to be a delay of about 10 seconds between the next successive actions. This becomes a problem when it's raining hard and I've yet to find a better solution other than to keep turning the dial on and off, which is a bit of a pain.

Am I missing something simple? Is this normal operation or is mine broken? Thanks in advance!

That's how mine works. Also, if your front wipers are on, and you put the car in reverse, the rear wiper will sweep twice, whether it's turned "on" or not.

the rear wiper is only to go on in reverse if your fronts or on, if that come on when thay are off, a + for you. ( or something is not working right, that could be a -) also when i turn on the rear wiper it has a mind of its own!

It was clearly said:
... if your front wipers are on, ...
So it's "working right".

eyesofruby, I think the first two swipes are to get any water/residue a single first pass wouldn't get...then at regular ~10 second intervals after that, like you stated.

And just for the record, I LOVE the reverse/back wiper feature!

The rear wiper marches to it's own tune. It's speed has nothing to do with the front wiper, no matter what setting your front wiper is on. The rear is on what seems to be at least a five second intermittent delay, which doesn't seem to be a problem to me. But I can't say for sure because since the day I picked up the fit, three weeks ago, we haven't had so much as a sprinkle here!

What part of NY are you in? Upstate, we're coming off the wettest summer on record.
