Replacing aircond/fan mode/temperature knobs...

Does anybody here know how to remove item no.5 (Heater control pane) so that I can replace my fan mode knob, item no. 8 as I accidentally scratched it (lots of them)? I dun trust my dealer for doing this thing as they might screw up removing them...

I know how to remove the HU case. Judging from the picture above, there is only one screw securing the panel while the rest are clips right? Is anybody experienced in doing this? Or the knob itself can be just pulled out forcefully but I can see that the base of it is in fact larger than the upper part of it.

Alright I did it. I will do my best to describe how:
All of these directions start AFTER the stereo is removed...

1. Once you remove the head unit just look above the knob (#8) and a little to the right and you will see a screw you need to remove.

2. Then pull on the whole black piece (#5 in the picture) that you removed the screw from, you will need to lift the trim around the gauges to the left of #5 up a little so you can free it as you are pulling.

3. Inside, there are screws not shown in the diagram that are holding the whole knob assembly, in order to gain enough room to access them you have to unplug whatever electrical plugs are connected to the back of the whole unit. There will still be the manual cables attached making it difficult to access these screws, there is one on each side of the back of the knob assembly.

4. Once you have the assembly removed just look for the tabs on the knob and pop it off with a flat tip screwdriver.

5. Replace knob the slide it back in the way you removed it, its a little tricky to get it back in right. make sure you test EVERYTHING before you put it all back in, the cable that controlled the fresh air/recirculation got a little out of adjustment with moving everything around, i was able to readjust it by moving it in the bracket behind the glove box and moving the switch till it moved completely side to side.

Taking my time and being really careful I was able to do it in about 20-30 minutes, doing everything is actually harder than removing the radio but it is doable. I tried my best to guide without pictures so hopefully it helps a little!

I have to give the jap engineers credit, the interior is very easy to disasemble and reassemble compared to my other vehicles. The weird thing is that after you have removed and replied every panel, the interior will never seem as sophisticated and pretty as it used to.
