2010 Fit. Can I fastworward a long audio file on the stock stereo unit?

I listen to audio lectures from the usb flash drive and the files are an hour to two hours long.

Sometimes the stereo unit will forget where it left off so I have to fastforward to the place in the lecture I last listened to.

The fastforward is slooooooow, 3 seconds at a time.

Does anyone know of any quicker ways to seek the middle of a long audio file like that?

Anything stored on an iPod fast forwards a lot faster then USB flash drive and it always remembers.

Or split it up.

MP3 Splitter Software - Split Mp3, WAV, Music and other Audio

Ein, thanks for the link and the comprehensive reply.
I will try that. Good to finally know that there is no certain way of fast forwarding that I thought I might be missing.
