09 Won't Start
Last night daughters 09 fit sport (automatic) stalled at a coffee shop and wouldn't restart. I got it restarted by depressing gas pedal to the floor while turning ignition. Had to keep engine racing, if I let it go to idle it would stall. I was able to get it home which is about a mile and a half by using the brake and gas and sport mode. When I got home the car was normal no check engine lights and idled normal. Shut engine off and restarted everything fine. Any suggestions

If it was as cold in MA as in PA lately,I suspect water ,frozen in the gas tank or line{bad gas}. Running half power or reduced power says low fuel supply or water in combustion to function normal. Water in fuel can also clog the filters because watered fuel usually contains rust particles from fuel tank of station. Had a civic that did the same thing a few years back in cold weather. Dealer removed tank found almost 1 gallon of rusted water,and clogged filter. I found out the station I was getting fuel from had experienced a flood in summer and water was in their tanks. Changed stations and never had the problem again. Not sure they sell fuel gas line antifree anymore,or if it is reccommended to use,anyone know?

Talked to service manager today. He said water in the fuel (frozen). Car seems fine now. She gets her gas at the same Sunoco station all the time and filled up Friday. This fill-up only had 20 miles on it. I think I might throw a can of dry gas in. What do you guys think?

I think I'd get a shop to drain the gas tank and fill it up at another station.
This is the best answer I could find googling it. If your local stations are running ethanol then dry-gas won't help.

This happened to me on my 91 Accord and it was bad gas. Warm weather so that was not the issue. Worked it's way out of the system with the next tank. When I talked to my mechanic about it, he said that there was rash of bad gas from the station I had filled up at.
Not to derail, but this is another reason why I like a MT. No way I would have gotten my car home without ample of use of the clutch. I am glad you were able to work it out with the paddle shifters.

It wasn't easy getting it home. It would have been easy with a stick shift.
I just picked up some Iso Heet premium fuel-line antifreeze. It treats up to 20 gallons of fuel. It states you can put it in before or after refueling. Her car is running fine now but I'm going to put this in tonight. I stopped at the gas station to tell them an they said nobody else had reported any problems. I'm going to tell her if this happens again to start it like I did and just sit there and keep the RPM's up and see if it clears after about 5 min. or so.

My 64 850cc Mini would not run without gas line antifreeze. I had to add a can every tank in the winter. It would not start either unless the block heater was plugged in overnight.
