Has anyone done the PGM-FI update yet?

Just wondering for those of you who did it. Can you vouch that the average MPG matches calculated mpg (trip mileage divided by gallons used)?

And would I qualify? trip computer avg MPG is off by 4.

The dealer does not do the reset by the amount you claim your mileage is off, they do it for the 2009 model year. Mine averaged out to being about 12% off before reset.

I had mine reset a couple weeks ago but did not fill up yet to check it out. From the way it's showing so far, it looks like it will be closer to actual.

The update works well. I'm withing 1-2% of hand calculated mileage. Get it with an oil change and it should be no problem.

print out the service bulletin and take it in. a lot of dealers don't know what it is yet. courtesy honda did though, they did a great job. no problems, and that was the only thing i took it in for.

I wonder if the Canadian Fits are any different? I haven't kept track of my mileage, so I can't really comment, but I don't think that we ever got a TSB.

Any Canucks out there that have checked ours? Is ours accurate? It is a different calculation...

CAN FIT ( 2009 ) exibit the same consumption meter un-accuracy. The only difference it that the meter read in liter/100km insteed of MPG.

I did mine already. Been through two tanks already and the calculations are spot on! Used to be about 4mpg optimistic. Last calculation my meter said 36.0 and I calculated 35.8 after a whole tank.

So do I just walk up to the dealer and tell them I want my mpg reader reset?

No.

Best thing is to print a copy of the TSB. The fix requires updating the PCM software. Here's the TSB (it's also in the sticky at the top of the page).

^^^ Beat me to it.

Take this form to them:

MPG Calc Fix

All Honda dealerships are full of idiots. They had no idea what I was talking about. They will most likely question you on how your calculating your mpg. Tell them you reset the trip meter when you fill up at a gas station, drive until the gas light comes on, then fill up again and divide the number of miles driven by the amount of gallons it took to fill your car up and it was consistantly 10-15% less.

They even questioned me about my modifications, and left my headlights/foglights on when they moved it to the back. I hate Honda dealerships, I would have done this myself if possible. Get it done though.
