fuel gauge problem 2010 fit

Hey guys I just got my fit 1 week ago and my first fill up was last sat night
Tonight I was driving home and at half tank my gas gauge light came on like I was almost empty so like a idiot I ignored it and was thinking maybe the 2010 cars at half tank give u a warning lol duhhhh.... lol no about 1 hour later my car shut off on the nj turnpike while I was pulling in for gas... so I was like wtf I pushed the car to the pump and put 27 dollars in wow it was empty now my gas gauge stuck at half lol on a 2010 car does the dealer cover this even tho I didn't buy the extend warranty and I put hids in on tues would that affect my warranty?

Since this is a fuel issue (more likely just a stuck needle) you don't need to worry about your lights affecting the warranty.

I've had all kinds of weird things like that happen when it's extremely cold outside. The extreme weather conditions up there could have caused the problem. Then again, things DO just malfunction sometimes.

Either way, a pain i the butt, for sure. The dealer should repair at no cost.

We had a guy with an 08 come in complaining that it stalled out, would spin over but no start. He said he ran over something in the road and asked if we could check for any damage. The fuel gauge read about 3/4 tank, but after disconnecting the fuel line, found that the fuel pump was not pumping. Turns out when he ran over whatever in the road it hit the bottom of the fuel tank and knocked the fuel gauge sender off of the pump. So the tank was bone dry but his gauge was still reading 3/4!
BTW for those that don't know, the fuel tank is right underneath the front seats and you can access the fuel pump from under the center console.
