Question CD player skips, then quits

My CD player will go fine, then skip, then stop before saying: "disc error" The same CD will play fine after I shut the ignition off and restart. It will work for several days, then do it again on another CD. The dealer says it must malfunction in their presence to have warrany work done. You have to know it's not going to malfunction at the dealer. Anyone else having that problem?

You got yourself a bad cd player. Mine went out and the dealer replaced it under warranty. New one works great. Not sure if the unit is just a bad design or there are just a few bad apples but mine died at 15,xxx miles. Mine got to the point it wouldnt play any cd's though so the dealer was able to see the problem. Either wait for it to fail completely, or go and have it documented at elast 3 times before your warranty goes out.

I called Amercan Honda, and they also stated that it had to malfunction in the presence of the dealer. About as much chance of that happening as winning the lottery. They did open a case number, and said someone will call back in a few days. Maybe I will get lucky. Funny thing, though, the CD player in my Solstice intermitantly quit 2 weeks ago. They were able to check it, found it was defective and replaced it without question. I am surprise Honda, with better everything, can't do the same check.

Explain that it's an intermittent problem and keep a record of when and how many times the error occurs.

Wait for the "disk error" message to appear and stop by the dealer without shutting the key off. They can't say there isn't anything to be seen my the tech if there's an error msg there.

Take a photo every time the error reads out- a date/time stamped photo. It couldn't hurt.

Honda just called, and speaking as if I were 5 years old, proceeded to say: "I feel your pain" but want it broken when I bring it in. I will at least get it on record with a different dealer, and keep a log.
