Excuses, Excuses
Excuses, Excuses
So I took my car into the dealer today because the Honda Music Link I had installed at the time of purchase decided to stop working for the second time in 6 months (the first time they had to replace the whole kit). So the story is I take my car in and tell them it doesn't work. I walk around the lot for a while and one of the tech guys and the service manager come out to look at it to see what is going on. They call me over holding the CD-R I had in the CD player in their hand, asking me if I was using the Music Link CD in the CD player while it was connected because the iPod needs to communicate with the CD (WTF?!?) and continues to tell me that I should not use "burnt CD's" in my CD player because it will burn it out and void my warranty (DOUBLE WTF?!?). So me, as I'm starting to get irritated with all the BS that is comming out of their mouths starts to get frustrated. But no that is not all of their reasons why "I am at fault". They go into this whole thing about and i quote "are you aware of the virus that is installed in the iPod?" Now I'm real pissed because well Apple shipped iPods with some sort of virus by accident that affects Windows computers. Well since 1. I only use a mac. 2. I have an iPod with video that shipped Last Year therefore not affected. and 3. A windows virus has nothing to do with my car. So the tech assures me that if I put the INSTILATION CD in my CD player my iPod will work (?) and I go test it out and do some research.
THE RESULTS:
Well I looked in my owners manual which states that my cars audio system WILL play CD-R CD-RW with Mp3 or Wma encoding blah blah blah. So I proved one of their points wrong
I looked at the user guide for the music link and well this is the description of what is included
"the music link cable, quick start guide, and software instilation CD (for personal computer use only)"
And it all turned out to be a loose connector!
All this crap that dealerships tell you to make you think it's your fault is starting to really get me PO'd first it was excuses for the paint, and now this? WTF?
At this point I think the guys looking at my car today were complete morons. I mean, if your gonna make up excuses think of something better than that!
let me know what you all think sorry for the extensive details...

They are only as good as the "latest Honda service bulletin"
1. They don't use Macs (very likely)
2. They don't drive Hondas (they just work there in the Honda building)
3. They are not a "FITFreak". Amen
Thanks for the reality check.
Honda Music Link has had problems. I elected to skip it in my CIVIC and FIT.

this is precisely why we need a factory 2din bezel + alpine head units
i can't believe what comes out of the mouths of some of these people. you can't even call them 'best guesses' because of how outlandish and blatantly reaching they are. yes, your home-made cd is going to void your warranty. that's like saying sitting in the seat voids the seat warranty.
