You could go back to the dealer and go upside down with what you owe (assuming that your making payments) and pick out the fit that you actually want.
i don't know much about adding paddle shifters, but you'd probably have to add tranny sensors, and the shfiter with the sport mode, and probably a whole new steering wheel with the paddles. finding them used would take forever, and new is costly.
for all that you might as well do a 5 spd swap which is cake..but the hardest part is sourcing the parts. unless ur down with buying new from honda.

I agree with the above. Stick it out unless you really need a manual. It would probably be cheaper to go upside down on the loan (or take the hit on trade if you owe less than the car is worth) and get a new fit than to do either of the two options above. If you are in an area with lots of fits and a few junkyards, you might be able to find parts... but still not for cheap.

Buy a second one.
I went out last year looking for something new. I drive a Caravan in excellent shape low mileage etc. Ended up with the Fit. Kept the Caravan. The Fit is my real expensive toy now.
Aaah retirement is great.

Check out the inventory of local dealers for a used 09 with a MT or paddle shifters and see how a trade would work out. Alternatively, see how much more you would need to pay a month for a 10 model with the options you want. It may be like $20 a month extra, which isn't much more, if you really want certain options.

Just keep your fit. Wait till you have enough cash flow to get a sport coupe like a 370z so you can get that in a mt. I think the fit is a perfect small family(early family w/small child) and cargo hauler. I'm planning on keeping my fit till it dies. Ill have an addition of a pure weekender in a couple of years(GTR hopefully) so I won't have to tune it.
