What to look for on used springs?

Hey I'm thinking of buying some Tanabe DF210s for my 09 Fit Sport from a person on craiglist for around $150..He says they are only 3 weeks old and in really good condition but I've never dealt with buying springs new or old so what should I look for in terms of defects and such I dont want to get played haha Thanks!

I'd look for a lower price.

After that just make sure the power coat is not all scratched up from the install or careless handling of the springs. Maybe check the part #s if they are printed on them (somebody with the same spring should chime in).

For me, I'd rather buy them on sale new than used unless it saves me ~50%.

Yea in terms of price he had them listed at $180 and I was like I'll give you 100 bucks for them and he replied he bought them for $220 and they are only 3 weeks old so he can do 150 so I haven't replied back yet I might just wait till the end of next week and say 125 haha

I would want to know why he used them for only three weeks and what he replaced then with.... I bought some used Swift springs the original owner used for 2 weeks and replaced them with coil overs and thought that was a legitimate reason...

If you feel like they might not be in good condition or you question if they are what he says I would just buy brand new ones. there not that much more and then you know they are going to be what you want.

I think lek in Thailand said that he didn't like the Tanabe springs because they were soft and caused his car to lean and roll in corners.... It could have been due to the springs not having enough travel for the shocks and strut dampers to work properly.... A lot of people that are lowering their car for the visual effect don't mind things like that....lek changed coil overs twice before he got handling and ride characteristics he liked.....
