My brand new (to me) '09
My brand new (to me) '09
Just another new owner checking in. Got the car two days ago. It's a manual SSM with 13,000 miles on it. Took some pics tonight, which are marginal. I need to go back and do some manual shutter speed shots, like I did with the Suzuki (see below.)

Thanks! I will be doing a comparison that I will post on sx4club.com, for my peeps over there, and I will copy paste it over here. I need more seat time in the Fit, and a good Hill Country run or two this weekend. I will say this though - the SX4 is a real driver's car. It's based on the Swift chassis and rotates really well and has a very raw feel. Very communicative, and nothing that Honda would ever put it's name on due to NVH and harsh steering wheel feedback.
The Fit feels like it has a much longer wheelbase and tracks differently through turns. It's like a highway cruiser in comparison. Not as darty, which is a good thing. The SX4 had the ability to run in fwd, variable awd, or 50/50 torque lock. I will try and compare the two from the standpoint of fwd mode. The SX4, despite actually being slower to 60, felt a good deal quicker. The gearing on that car is even lower than the fit. To me, it's the modern day 2.5RS, and it will be missed. The Fit however - it is a Honda, and as such, has a very different character. Still learning to drive in the upper rpm range.
I tried a 1-2 redline shift and it was a pretty rough transition. I guess that smooth take up on the clutch is actually connected to something.
Otherwise, I've found the shifter easy to adapt to. The SX4 has that strong 1st gear gate and over rev problem between shifts, but my foot tuned it all out, and it's the same deal with the Honda. The brakes on the Fit are crazy. No modulation, but once you get used to it, they do stop the car when you press on it like you mean it. So, those are some random thoughts. I haven't really gotten a chance to explore the Fit, so I don't have as much positive things to say about it.
I highly recommend the SX4 to someone who is attracted to the package, and wants the awd for a hit in mpgs. I hope to keep the Fit for longer than my last 4 cars, which besides the SX4, in descending order are an '06 Passat 2.0T, A Mazdaspeed MX-5, and a Golf TDI.

$14,995. The dealer dropped the price by two grand to move it by the end of the month, not knowing what they really had on their hands. That made it the second least expensive Fit manual under 15K miles in the country according to autotrader. They are scarce right now. It's got a little over a year and a half on the 36k warranty. Pretty damn pleased with the whole deal.
