Japanese License Plate

Japanese License Plate
Hello All:
This is my first post on Fit Freak! I have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport and recently purchased a Japanese license plate for the front. I'm located in the United States, and the plate is slightly larger than a U.S. marker (the Japanese plate measures 13 inches x 6.5 inches).
I've been looking everywhere for a solution on how to mount this thing. I know that there's an adjustable plate mount available, but that would necessitate drilling holes in the bumper. Alternatively, I could also drill new holes in the plate to make it fit my U.S. OEM mount. However, I'd like to keep these as last-resort solutions.
My question is two-fold:

My question is two-fold:
- Is there anywhere to obtain a Honda Fit license mount that will accommodate a Japanese plate? Can one be purchased from Honda Japan?
- Is there another solution/after-market part that I haven't come across that will solve this problem.

Are you stationed in Japan? I've had several friends in the UK who were abl to get license plates made for their US spec cars that were the size and shape of US plates, and avoid having to modify the car to hold them. Might be an option.

Can't you just make a hole adapter yourself? Just off the top of my head. Get a piece of Aluminum (will not rust) approx .032 or .040. at Lowes or Home Depot just slightly smaller that your 13" x 6.5" Drill two sets of hole in it. One to match up to your u.s. spec license plate holes and the other set to screw to your 13" x 6.5" plate. Screw the plate to you holes in your bumper then find short nuts and bolt and attach your Japan plate to that.
Or you can always just drill new holes in the japan license plate to match the use spec license plate holes like you already mentioned.

Actually not legal to even leave the country as they are the property of the Japanese Government and not the individual. Of course it still happens.
Why do you want to display the plate anyways? Never quite understood what the fascination is with having a Japanese plate whether authentic or those cheap fakies.

Foreign plates are kinda neat on vehicles that originally wouldve had them. For example, vintage plates on a RHD Austin/Morris Mini. On a car that has always been US spec... Eb, whatever toots yer horn.
(On old British bikes, the vertical plate on the front fender is practically mandatory.)
