Help, need 1 tire for 09 Base Fit
One of the tires on my 09 Base Fit needs to be replaced. The tires all have plenty of thread left so I just want to replace that one damaged tire.
I cannot find them for sale ANYWHERE.
I don't want to mix and match thread patterns by buying a different tire and I REALLY don't feel like buying new tires all around just because of the one damaged tire.
Anyone know where I can buy one?

It's crazy. Why the heck is it so hard to find a tire for a car that's been on the market about 2 years?
They sell 20 thousand or more units a month.

Honestly, I haven't even attempted that route. In my life, I never went to a car dealer for tires.
Always found them cheaper elsewhere in the early years of driving, that I just canceled that as an option.
I guess that I will call my selling dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

The simplest thing to do is go to the tire dealer (i.e. Bridgestone, Dunlop, etc) for your brand of tire and have them order one in for you. Sure, the dealer could order it in, but the price will be about the same either way.

how long ago did you buy the car? I assume you haven't replaced the tires since then. How much have you driven on those tires?
If your answer is something like two months ago AND only about 5k miles, then you can get away with replacing only one tire.
But if its more, or MUCH more than that, you should replace TWO tires (like hello_you1 mentioned). Always in pairs, sites like TireRack will say to put the new pair in the back for traction.
Because unless the overall set is relatively new, your car WILL be affected by replacing only 1 tire, from the steering to the brakes. These two are things you don't want "affected," they, in turn affect other things, like traction.
BTW, what is "plenty of tread"? From brand new to legally worn is a difference of only 1/4" thickness (from 10/32" to 2/32"). Then you have to consider, some people only get about 20k-25k miles from their tires before they think it needs replacing.

Imagine what would happen to cars with one tire that's way grippier then the others.

I don't have a tire gauge, but I do have a penny.
The thread seems to be at the eye level of President Lincoln. Does anyone know what that translates to?
I was hoping just to replace that one tire to buy me another 10K miles outta my Original Set of tires before replacing them, but I may as well replace them now.
I was thinking to replace them with these:
Yokohama AVID ENVigor (H&V)=
They have a super high long life rating and they are very cheap. Remember, these tires are just going on my Daily Driver Base Fit.
What do you guys think?

My guess... and it's only a guess, you have something like 7/32" of tread depth. Based on that guess, you're close to 1/3 into the tires' life.
I guess those Yokohamas seem pretty good, based on the user reviews on TireRack. I saw a higher rated tire, but it got bad reviews.

The Envigors are a good choice. I ran them on my GE Sport in 195-55-VR16 for a whole week before the car got totaled. The V configuration affected the already rough ride, but that shouldn't be an issue with the H rated OE size for the base.
Tirerack has the OE tire. My Honda dealer actually buys from them an then marks them up a little, still cheaper than ordering from a Goodyear/Dunlop tire dealer. The reason OE tires are often hard to find is that in most cases there are better aftermarket tires out there so when the original set wears out a different tire is chosen.
If you go for a set of the Yokos instead, keep us posted as those look like the best replacement tire for the money out there right now.

I know that TireRack carries the OE tire. The problem is that they don't have any in stock.
I have been waiting to order a full set of the "Yokos" and they are supposed to arrive in there stock any day now.
Just waiting for it so I can pull the trigger. Will keep ya'll updated for sure.
EDIT: Just called Tire Rack and they think production has been pushed back 3-4 weeks on the Yokos and no answer for the SP1s.

Have 35+K miles on OE tires but they need replacing. Honda dealer wants $630 some odd for a new set of 4. Was wondering if there's some issue with the TPMS that make 'em special or something. I don't care if the TPMS is working or not. Just need some decent tires for my 2009 base commuter.

Also, I thought that they would have been made in Japan but was surprised to see that they were produced in the U.S.A.
Note: They are "rotational" tires so when rotating, you can only switch the front with the rear. No side to side rotation unless you want to remount the tire to the wheel.
Badself, you are indeed correct. They do ride harder than the original Dunlops. Maybe the sidewall is stiffer?
Lastly, I made a comment about being surprised that the Yokohamas were made in the USA and not Japan. Well, I had a great laugh yesterday because while I was waiting for the shop to finish my tire install, I picked up a Magazine of "Diesel Power" that they had laying around. One of the things that caught my eye was a comment stating that "both MSD and Yokohama are celebrating 40 years manufacturing in the U.S.A". Whoops!
