spoon fit has inferior drums while IRL, NASCAR, Forumula 1, etc. uses superior disc brakes on all four corners.

When you and/or your Fit starts racing in those circuits, go ahead and get discs. In fact, if you actually start tracking your Fit period, post back.

Comparing a production racing car with an F1 car is ridiculous. The brake system they use on those cars can't even be compared to discs on any mass produced cars.

Majority of production racing car have 4 disc brakes. Drums are dinosaurs. Honda just wanted to cut cost with ancient technology and Honda fan boys can't come to terms with it.

Like I've said, IF you ever get out to the tracks and have a legitimate reason for complaints, then fine. Until then, just because it doesn't have silicon carbide rotors on all four corners, it doesn't mean inferior braking. At least not for your uses.

My friend with an EG hatch with drums kills me everytime on the tracks. Even in the corners.

xm8 seems to be speaking from spec sheet experience as opposed to actually tracking his car. It's weird, because I'm on both sides of this argument: I think that front big brake kits can help reduce brake fade on the track after multiple hard stops where something like 70%-90% of the braking forces are handled by the front half, but I also think that the rear drums are and can be completely adequate for a car weighing 2300 lbs on the track (and especially on the street). An interesting experience for ppl like xm8 would be to do a back to back test of two fits, one with stock front discs and rear drums, and one with stock front discs and a rear dics conversion. Guarantee there are little to no difference in stopping distance or feedback. Now, swap out the front rotors for something bigger (a bigger heat sink), and you bet your ass you'll see a difference on the track after repeated laps. But, rear discs on this car? Not necessary for me...

the front does like 90% of the braking, so upgrading the rear would be a waste of time and money for most if not all of the members on this site

If the Jazz/Fit does not need rear disc brakes, then why did Honda put disc in the rear of the UKDM & JDM Jazz?

I have been servicing my own brakes for over 15 years. When I am at the track, it takes me a very short time to change my rear disc brake pads. I have changed brake shoes in the brake drums on numerous cars and it is always more time consuming than changing pads. Any one who works on drums know that it is a bitch to work on. Rear disc brakes are so easy to change.

According to you guys, the stock drums are good enough. The stock fit exhaust is lightweight and non restrictive, why do so many people change it out for expensive noise makers than give you only 1 or 2 hp? Stock is good enough; it doesn't need the mods. Almost every stock OEM part on the Fit is optimized by Honda and is good enough but most of the threads on this board talk about swapping out OEM parts for aftermarket parts that give little or no gains.

I have a Wilwood BBK on the front, defiantly a big difference, but you could get better braking with simple upgrades.

Not sure if you are in support of aftermarket parts or not.
The cold, hard fact is that every stock OEM part on the Fit is optimized by Honda (or any other brand) for production ease and profit. Sometimes this is an acceptable compromise in safety sometimes it isn't. These mods are not always strictly HP minded.

They cost around $800-1000 for the 12" WilWood Kit, but now icant use my stock wheels (16' or bigger), go to Brake Kits - Performance Pads, Rotors, Calipers & Brake Upgrades he has steel braided lines for the fit, one that will match any BBK. But steel braided line with good pads and rotors will defiantly improve braking. i have a KWSC so i needed the brake upgrade for when i have fun with the Fit
